Finding it to be around a 80/20 success rate. Sometimes it makes sense that it fails. However I do find it opens up more times when I'm not wearing my mask with Beta 2

For a beta, it's working pretty good for me although I've found that the better light you are in the better it works. Dimmer light source not as well

Works really well in beta 2, and the few times it doesn't work, it's when I'm in an environment with a lot of Wifi networks. I assume the Apple Watch is then busy searching for a network that it can use and doesn't connect to the iPhone quickly enough to make the unlock.

After the beta 2 update, it def. has improved to >75% of the time!

Hopefully the finish version will work properly that was supposed to be released in feb but doubt it as only one day left . Beta version would unlock my phone while wearing mask and watch but would not while trying to use Apple Pay

I believe apple stated it would only be used for unlocking the phone. As of now, it is not supposed to allow apple pay or third party apps to use to unlock apps or anything else. Only for unlocking the iphone.

Looks like this feature will work like automatic audio switching: work like wonders a few times and then never works again.
I have lost all of my hopes now.

Nope, it works virtually every time for me. I can't remember an occasion when it didn't unlock.

My only criticism is that more apps need to support it.

Well this seems to be the “new” trend about Apple software these days: “it works, for a small portion of users”.

It never works for me after the first few times.

Yeah same experience here. Super hokey implementation. They need to like triple the range and make it an option to have it work all the time mask or not. You know, features from 2013

Why is it always newbies that rush in with the complaints? 😆 This guy is an old newbie. Joined in 2009? Only 16 messages? Alrighty then
Sup I’m from 2015 with a whole bunch of posts and I think the feature sucks in its current state. Gonna make up some alternative reason for why you think others’ input is invalid? Alrighty then

As I previously stated it’s working very well for me except in dim light conditions. Am I disappointed that it’s only useful in unlocking the phone and not individual apps, sure, but as it’s currently implemented it helps greatly.

Sad that it does not work with Apple Pay . I consider this to be a security issue as someone could be standing behind you while you type in your passcode. I know you can just use your bank card but prefer to use Apple Pay

The unlock with Watch feature will work with any masked face. Allowing Apple Pay would be a far too large security risk. If you have an Apple Watch, why would you not just use the watch for Apple Pay?

Because Apple Watch pay only seems to work for me if I am touching the pay terminal with my watch . As some have guards round them it’s a pain

It works so well for me that I forget it is even there or that I am wearing a mask. For example, I walk in to a supermarket, take out my phone to view my shopping list, and voila I can see my list.

Maybe you’ve got a faulty Watch as all the Watches I’ve had have always been more sensitive to the terminal than any of my phones.

You just need to hover the Watch a couple of cm above the slot where the card goes for chip and pin transactions.
