I think as many have pointed out, some of it is luck. When I examine my phone it seems the point og impact is near the camera lenses which is unprotected either way...

Good cases will have a hard outer shell. The camera island is pretty well protected.

You case users lead dangerous lives! LOL. Three flights of stairs, two story balconies?! Sheesh!

My phones used without cases get out maybe once or twice a day and the highest they go is one flight of (carpeted) stairs to the second floor of my house (which has no balcony).

It's a lot worse than that. One time, the moment I took my new iPhone out of the box, it slipped out of my hands and went cartwheeling across the tile floor. Now, the moment I open a new iPhone, it immediately gets a screen protector and case. I can't trust these fumbly hands.

Why? Mine took multiple hits and phone is scratch less. Share your experience.
i concur. Garbage.
Slippery as hell, iPhone fell a few times because of this case, and the case gets destroyed after a single hit.
And I confirm how hard it is to remove!

Get the outter box case

Some of their cases are too chunky for my liking though. Like carrying a tank in your pocket.

I’ve been using ESR cases since years and can definitely vouch for them. They’re generally reasonably priced and very good quality cases.

I really think the phone would have cracked no matter the case...looks like point og impact was next to the lens and most likely it hit where the banister juts out....

I had my 2 week old iPhone 7s slip out of my pocket on a roller coaster. Smashed to bits, but was still able to get a signal. I had to take it to an Apple store for them to connect another screen to it so that I could get the verification code to turn off Find My Phone. That was years before you could do that on a computer, or another trusted device. It was just after 2FA was started. I got lucky with that, and the phone was covered by Applecare. Still it was very emotional.

I have a Mous case on my X. The case started to split about 6 months ago and they replaced under their excellent warranty. I would recommend Mous.
(yes i know, i am still using an X....)
