Doesn't matter, I still need 64GB anyway. bare min, so the base jump didn't matter
16GB would be nice for majority of casual users anyway who just use their MBP to string facebook [lolol] - uni days

Paranoid much? You should wait 3 more years to buy the increased ram.

What do you mean "let's not be bottomless pits of RAM need"?
Is living with 8GB of RAM a cyber version of being a monk?
Please make sense of what you read. The original poster complains that 16GB is a trap, but it's still better than 8GB, which is my point.
It seems that you are interpreting my post slapping the opposite intended meaning on it.

I think you misunderstood here. It is definitely the right thing to have 16gb these days. My worry though, was about whether or not Apple knows that they will increase the requirements of ram in the next 1-2 OS systems so this could essentially end up being the same situation as 8gb.
ie. if you raise ram and next you increase the ram requirements by the system then you end up with 0. And that is my worry/thinking here.

If on the other hand that will not happen in the near future then this move by Apple was the right call and everyone will benefit. Its just weird that even Macbook Air that didn't get updated was ram bumped. Its un-Apple-like unless they know something we don't (which is usually the case)
Eventually? Yes.
Eventually, your CPU will be too slow and you won’t have enough RAM. They come up with a faster CPU every single year, so you can choose your upgrade cycle — every year, every five years, every seven years — it’s up to you.
