True. And also, I'm not so sure that even the makers of the "glass" (plastic) would call them "bulletproof". I think it's more like "bulletresistant". There are many types of bullets and many types of "glass" that what works under one set of conditions might not necessarily work under another.
Yep, it's not as cut and dried as most think.

But if someone is willing to experiment, be my guest. I'm just not volunteering any of my stuff.
Me neither! :D

Or a Toshiba.:p

Actually, though Toshibas are fatter than most Dells, they are extremely secure. One of my friends has a 2.2" thick Toshiba:D , and I'm sure he could drop it to the floor, and be more worried about the floor than the computer...

All I can say is if the 17" MBP is a riot shield, then the 17" Dell Inspiron 9400 that I also have is one of those blocks they put on the road from stopping suicide bomber trucks getting through. Bearing in mind the size of the screen, I think the MBP is incredibly portable. Obviously smaller screen laptops would be far more luggable but this has to be the most totable 17-incher on the market.

Woah there a 17'' Dell that must be used for anchors on boats or something to that extent.

...At its base, the first "portable" Mac was a good 10cm thick, that's, er, 6 inches or something ? Definitely bullet-proof...

Btw, have you seen the kind of ads we automatically get down the page of this thread? In a Macrumors forum? "Body Armour" etc... :)
