Yup, prices are getting a little out of hand - £1190 for the 12.9 256GB Wifi that cost me £869 on day 1 last year! I had planned to buy both sizes again this year but no chance now.
May just give it a miss - will wait to see what reviews say and if there is an increase in RAM.

There is one advantage for people selling their 10.5 Pro Tablets...

The prices hasn't went down so they will get a good resale value

Did they mention if the old Apple pencil would work on the new Pro's?

Seems the price has gone up £180.
It’s quite ridiculous, I anticipated a rise, but not such a jump. I’m currently residing in the US and last gen 256GB iPP was $949 + tax, this one is $1,149... I could handle $50-100 bump (barely) but $150 sucks, and is going to hurt my bank account for a while.
I have to wait on the Apple Pencil, Smart Cover and AppleCare+ until the 1st. Which adds another $229. *facepalm
I’m also quite perturbed at how ridiculously silly that Apple increased the price for the pencil, and also once again does not offer colorful Smart Covers (for the 12.9” or the 11”.) And to top it off, they jumped up the price for a (smaller, non-leather) White Smart Cover.
I of course ordered one still as this is an incredible update and product I can’t wait to get, and I need one for photo editing. I just expected that the 256GB would jump maybe to 1,049 or 1,099. :(

Kallum.

The price shocked me too..blows my mind, I'm not happy about it. I paid $230 USD more for this 2018 iPad Pro + Apple Pencil than I paid for my 2017 iPad Pro + Apple Pencil, same spec'd iPad..12.9/256GB/Wi-Fi.

The weakening pound is also partially to blame. Apple are protecting their margins.
Thats what happened when people voted to keep out the Polish sprout pickers. Hope they think it was worth it.

I didn’t see that, hmm... I actually don’t like the covers for iPads, but I will amend my last post and give props to Apple for adding a back to this for $20 extra.
The other good thing I forgot about is the student discount on these. I cancelled my order and went to the student section on Safari and got $50 bucks off... I’m grateful I’m a student. lol
This reduces the hit to my bank and sanity a little.
So it ended up $1,099 ($1174.28) for iPad Pro Silver 256GB.
I’ll buy the Apple Pencil probably tomorrow (when I get more money in my account.)

Edit... I wonder if to have the Smart Cover work now, it has to have a back. (If not, I would have wanted only a Cover.)
So $65 + $129 for a Zagg Cover and Apple Pencil is what else I have to spend. I wanted to do AppleCare+... but I’ll probably wait on that too.
Overall, I’m much happier now.

Had a business trip to JP and really struggled not to buy an iPad Pro 11". Nearly 300$ savings were certainly seducing me. I ended up not buying it after learning that iPad warranties (just like iPhone warranties) are not international ones and that I could potential not receive any service back home.

They’re international. They put that clause just to be on the safer side. And they do that for all Apple products.

The new pencil costs 33% more too.
Did you expect Apple to keep the price the same when they complelty redesigned the pencil with touch capbilities and wireless charging?

Just like op, did he think Apple was going to keep the price the same when Apple complelty redesigned the iPad and threw in an improved version of Face ID? While ignoring the strength of his counties currency? A little logic goes a long way.

They are not. The EEA applicable iPad warranty restricts service it to EEA. As for the Japanese one, I lack the Japanese skills to determine whether Apple JP enforces its general iPad/iPhone only clause giving the ability to restrict the warranty.

BTW iPods and Macs are not within the scope of the warranty limitation.

I have a bunch of apple products (3 iPads, 2 iPhones, 1 MacBook) that I’ve bought in the states and have had absolutely no issue with warranty claims here in Germany.
