Giving away 1password touch for free for a year, switching it the price to 4.99, then once 3.0 was released, they released 1password touch pro for 5.99 and its major features are bookmarklets and easier copy+paste.

I bought their computer program, and I was fine buying 1password touch for 4.99 but it is a slap in the face when they release pro for 5.99 two weeks later. If they had told us pro would be coming along, a think most of us would have waited the two weeks.

hm... it says in the description that a pro version will be available and what the difference to the normal version is... maybe you didnt read it?

My 1pw free version works fine on 3.0.
I don't need to buy any other version.
YMMV.

Sadly, I bought 1password last week so I had to pay 4.99 for 1password touch. I don't like the idea of having to pay that again just to gain copy and paste.

 Please tell me you are kidding?

btw... i do think it sucks that they charge you even if you have the desktop version... i guess i will just keep using the free version...

Google: the Osborne Effect. Why in the hell would a company not want you to buy what they have right now?

I totally agree with you. I got it when free and have no intentions of really using it much on my iPhone, but still ...

Are you 12 years old or something?

How does him pointing out what is probably your error make him 12?

OP,

The problem here is clearly you.

I have the free version of this app too.

Sucks to be you I guess, but as pointed out you were told it a pro version was coming out.

So exactly what do you want us to do? Feel sorry for you because you could not be bothered with spending 5 seconds of due diligence?

I bought the free version. (bought? heh) I RARELY use it, but it was a gateway to the desktop app which I DEPEND ON. Especially great between computers and the new keychain system.

If you are going to draw parallels, at least know what you are talking about. Agile SW gave away 1password for the iphone/ipod touch for free for over a year; then, in the last month they decided to start charging $4.99 for it. Those of us who bought the $4.99 ipod touch program (on top of the $50 desktop program) are irked that Agile SW then released the ipod touch pro for $5.99 less than a month after jacking up the ipod touch program's price. Pro's new features are a bookmarklet system and copy + paste.

Please explain to me that situation at all parallel's the Osborne Computer story? And, as someone who owned an Osborne 1, let me tell you the "Osborne effect" never affected Osborne Computers.

1) Do not use terms of art like "due diligence" in colloquial exchanges unless you want us to treat you like a poseur.

2) When I looked into buying 1password for the ipod touch, they only listed one version.

Most people develop a concrete sense of temporal progression in early adolescence--before then it is abstract. He made the faulty assumption that because the iTunes page now mentions a "pro" version, then it must have always mentioned a pro version. I do not believe an adult would make such a basic logical reasoning error.

1Password

Can anyone answer the following questions for me about 1Password?
1. Is it absolutely safe to put credit card and bank info into it?
2. Can I change the Master Password?
3. What happens if your computer crashes and you've assigned unique passwords for all your logins?

Help, someone, please!

1. yes, that's what it's designed for
2. yes
3. you're supposed to back up the file. the guys at agile makes it easy, go to their forum and do a search. i use multiple backups, they are also encrypted.

you can take all it's features if you decide to educate yourself about the applications and services.. it's really nice. :)

and btw, i have both paid versions of 1password. it's worth it.

sometimes you have to pay for things in life.

To the OP. The desktop app is one of the best apps out there and really useful. (If you don't have the desktop app, I'm not sure why you would have purchased 1password as there are better standalone apps like eWallet or SplashID.)

I'm assuming you spent $40 on the desktop app, in addition to $1000 + dollars on your Mac, and at least $200 + contract for an iPhone. I also assume that the Pro version will be getting more features in the future than just bookmarklets and copy/paste otherwise they would have just raised the price of the standard app. In any case, why are you whining about $5 when you have already spent at least $1240 + contract? Skip your morning latte or even lunch (if your like me you could stand to lose 5 pounds) and chill. All of us have 2 or 3 apps that we have wasted money on at one time or another but we don't waste time making threads whining about it.

The new pro app is amazing. Once it's set up, when you're in Safari and need a PW, you click the custom bookmark and it loads the app to the password entry for the page you're on: copy the info you need and it shoots you back to the Safari page, paste, BOOM.

As I mentioned above, the 1Password (formerly free, now paid) app was/is a great app to store info and handy to have as an archive, but for me it was mostly a gateway to the amazing desktop app. Now it's been a gateway to the prop app which is fantastic!

I am a bit confused.

So you didn't download the older version of 1Password when you knew it was free for nearly a year? Then you paid $4.99 after Agile Web stopped giving it away? If you downloaded 1Password when it was free (I got 1.0 when it launched), you can upgrade to the latest non-pro version (2.2) for free.

As for the pro version, it seems like a nice improvement (especially bookmarklet), but I use 1Password mostly for organizing sensitive information and the regular version suits me just fine.

Perhaps you should contact Agile Web for possible cross upgrade promotional code instead of venting here?
