Kyle,
Thanks for your reply. I don't know what I was missing before, but the extension is now working as expected.
How to use your 1Password log-ins in Safari:
https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-ios/5/en/topic/extension
Sure!
You can use the LastPass Import feature in the Mac application.
Details here:
https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-mac/4/en/topic/importing-data
Also, a user contribution may do an even better job of importing:
https://guides.agilebits.com/kb/1password4/en/topic/import
Both should get you up and running with the data in the Mac app, of which you can get free for 30 days (http://www.agilebits.com/downloads)
Then you can sync this data, either via Dropbox or Wifi (iCloud won't work unless you're on Yosemite and using the latest 1Password for Mac beta) along with iOS 8 and 1Password 5 for iOS.
Let me know if you run into any trouble! I'll be happy to help!
Hey AGKyle, I have a few questions for you. First: I'm trying to rearrange the 1Password extension from the share sheet in Safari but it doesn't keep its place and it always reverts to the second page of the share sheet. Second, something really annoying is that the 1Password app works with TouchID only half the time; the other half it asks for password. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!
Can you explain or link me to how to use the TouchID to unlock the actual 1Password app and get in? I have enabled TouchID within the settings but it's still asking me to type my password.

The arrangement on the share sheet is an iOS 8 bug. I will leave the other to Kyle to address.
Here's how my settings look and its still asking me to type in my master password was working touch but started asking me today to type it. It's just a bug then (keychain is on)? There are a couple of TouchID bugs in the app at the moment. It will not always ask you for the TouchID verification to unlock in some situations that it should.
However, I have mine set to:
TouchID - On
Request Fingerprint after 5 Minutes
Lock on Exit - Off
Up above that, you can click Request After to change when it'll ask for the master password. If this item is Lower than the TouchID request after it'll never ask for the TouchID. (assuming you let the master password request after timer hit)
You should also go into Advanced settings in 1Password and make sure the iOS Keychain option is on. It'll open up more lengthy periods under the master password request after period.
The share sheet issue is an Apple bug, it drives me nuts too. Unfortunately, we have no control over that one and it's in Apple's hands to fix. Hopefully the next iOS update will fix it.
Keep in mind that we will require that you enter your master password at some point because we do not want you to forget the master password. You can adjust the length of this though.
You'll want to turn on TouchID, set the Request Fingerprint after to how long you want the app to stay unlocked before it requests a finger print again, I have mine set to the default 5 minutes. I also have Lock on Exit off, so that the 5 minutes are obeyed. Otherwise it'll lock immediately after leaving the app.
With this, I get to switch apps for up to 5 minutes before it asks for TouchID to verify me again.
There is one other option that will impact this. If you look above the TouchID options you'll want to make sure the Request After period is HIGHER than the Request Fingerprint option.
If you set Request Fingerprint to 5 minutes, then set Request Master Password After to 1 minute. After one minute you will have to provide your master password, not TouchID.
If you set Request Fingerprint to 5 minutes, then set Request Master Password to 30 days then you'll be able to provide your TouchID for up to 30 days before it's going to ask for the master password.
This also depends upon the Settings->Advanced->Use iOS Keychain option to be on. Otherwise the TouchID stuff only works up until when iOS kills 1Password, and that could be almost immediately after you leave the application.
Also note that in the 5.0.1 release there are bugs with TouchID that we will be fixing in the next update. This mostly has to do with the Extension I believe where some of the timers do not get reset properly and can cause it to ask for the master password sooner than TouchID because of those timers. Currently we're hoping to get that update out at the end of the month or within that general time frame.
++ this is exactly it. Thanks again for your help in answering questions![]()

What are your settings in the Security pane? If you meant to attach an image or something it didn't attach![]()

Ugh. It's not letting me upload it for some reason.
My settings are keychain on. Request master password after 30 days.
Touch ID enabled. Request Fingerprint After 5 minutes. Lock on Exit disabled.
It was working yesterday using the safari extension and Touch ID today though it's been asking me to type my master password. Is this just a bug?
Thanks basicgreatguy and AGKyle for your responses. So my problem was that my Master Password was 1 minute (I believe) so it kept asking me for Master Password instead of TouchID. Now I've set it to 30 days and it asks me for my fingerprint for authorization. Thanks
Also... That sharesheet bug is really annoying. Can't wait for the fix.
Second question AGKyle (if you don't mind) - I noticed that during the promo video of the iOS 8 1Password features the 'demo user' was able to save their new account directly into 1Password using a 1Password button he pressed while he was creating a new account; however that doesn't show up for me. So I have to create the account, then add it into 1Password. How would I get this to work for me? Much appreciated![]()
It asked me to type it on the standalone app but this was off a reboot, second time opening it worked so maybe just normal? If you're talking about the Safari extension not letting you do it, that's a bug that should be fixed in the next update due hopefully near the end of the month.
Can you check and make sure that the app itself lets you use TouchID as expected? It's all working properly for me at the moment on the latest beta version we have for internal testing so I'm guessing this is more or less fixed in the next update.
Are you talking about the Sandwich video with Adam Lisagor? If so, that's not even the real interface for 1Password in most cases except in a few areas. We wanted to keep the amount of interface visible in the videos to a minimum because the application is constantly changing and often becomes out of date in terms of visual look and feel very quickly.
On iOS you will need to create the login item manually and enter the information in. On a Mac, we can ask to save the information for you in the browser. On iOS, applications still cannot be triggered on events, and the extensions cannot either, it only works when you ask it to show up which means we cannot ask to save your data on iOS yet. Maybe in a future update to iOS they'll add more great features to extensions.
If I'm misunderstanding please let me know which video it was you watched, since we changed the site around last week I am not totally sure I've seen all of the videos yetIt has been absolute chaos since version 5 was released (and leading up to it) and I've barely had time to enjoy using the application myself outside of bug testing lol

It will ask between reboots of the phone, yesTouchID doesn't work between reboots either and you have to type in your device passcode as well, we work the same way.
I thought so so yeah confirmed. I can't wait till the bugs are ironed out really loving it. I bought it right before it was free but dont mind hopefully its supported throughout iOS 8.

Shoot. I can't find it anymore but I believe it was something along the lines of this:
User creating a new account on an app/website called ACNE OR ACME. User sees a "lock" icon that lets him save the info without going into the app and manually entering the info. Does this make sense?
Oh yes, that is something an app can take advantage of. This can't be done in Safari, but it can be done from within other applications should they choose to. It uses our App Extension
https://github.com/AgileBits/onepassword-app-extension
More details there, but it's not something we can do in Safari. Basically we need the app to trigger our pane and send us the username and password.
Hi,
I have about the same problem here.
I get 1password to use touch ID about50% of the time as well.
I haven't been able to find a pattern for that: sometimes it happens even if i just opened the app before (I get that first opening asks for Master Password), sometimes after a long time without using 1password it will still ask for touchID
Sometimes it even asks twice in a row for master pw, whereas sometimes entering master pw makes the next requests use touch ID.
Everything is set as recommended here:
Use ios keychain ON
Request finger print after 2min, master pw after 30 days
Lock on exit
I've had something similar, with 1password unexpectedly asking for the master password. Turns out that somehow the dropbox sync had failed/was disconnected. I've no idea why, and have had to re-authorise and re-enable the sync a few times.
Waiting for the next update may result in much better TouchID featuresPlease try the next update when it becomes available. I believe we're looking at getting that to Apple real soon for review.
Goto Settings (the app), General, Background App Refresh, and turn it off for 1Password. We've found a bug in iOS 8 that causes some issues here. We're not removing the functionality from 1Password in hopes that they'll fix it in an update. But you can bypass that code that is causing issues by turning off the background update feature for 1Password.
Let me know if that helps![]()
Thanks for answers, will keep you updated with next update!
Also, what is normally background app refresh used for in1password?
Thanks for that! Implemented and lets see if it skips the problem for now.![]()
