This is the same people have already suggested in this thread though. But the guide is probably a good thing to add, so thumbs up for that

I've also done the text replacement approach, via Keyboard/Text. 1/2 becomes ½, and 1/4 becomes ¼ almost everywhere automatically.

You can use it to add basically any mathematical expression or equation using late commands or mathml.

Yeah, it's bloody great! Especially if you already know LaTeX/MathML. Perhaps a bit of a steep learning curve otherwise. But I write a lot of LaTeX for uni, but sometimes want to use Pages to just write something smaller a bit quickly, and still being able to typeset equations with LaTeX within Pages is so fantastic

You can also use Shift-Option-1 to produce a 'divider' character. So 2 [divider] 3 will produce something resembling ⅔. This isn't a 'true' fraction and doesn't work in all apps, but it might work in a pinch.

I'm not at my Mac at present so that's written from memory and I might not have the keys quite right.
