I have to say mine is silent too. I do not understand what people are saying about the noise?
Its only in very quiet environements. A friend on mine bought one. All good…then i used it in the middle of the night an he said that the fans are quiet but there is high pitch sound which is really annoying. Once you hear it it it cannot be unheard. Since april last year i am tested mac studios. They all have it. It testes over 16 now

I've had the Mac Studio since its release. I've never heard any noise coming from it, which sits on my desk just under my display. It's perfectly silent.

I do not doubt that some people have a Mac Studio that is experiencing some issue that's causing the high-pitch noise. But this is not the norm, it's not the majority, it's probably not even 1% of users. And it's probably more about those people's hearing than it is the computer.

I've also read a bunch of users here with Thunderbolt port speed issues with their Mac Studio. This, again, is a problem I'm not seeing, nor is anyone else I know that has a Mac Studio.

For people who wanted extreme power, low cost, and the flexibility that "bringing your own peripherals" offers – the Mac Studio is probably one of the best Macs Apple has offered in years (in my opinion).

Thats great. Do you have a „new“ unit? Can you track the serial number?
I really hope that there a good ones somewhere in the wild. I also think that it is a great machine. And without the noise issue I go as far as saying that it is near perfect

What monitor are you using with this setup? Multiple Monitors?

Been really enjoying my Studio since buying it shortly after release. Only constant problem is it still sometimes wakes immediately after trying to put it to sleep from the Apple menu. Sometimes it takes up to six, seven tries to put it to sleep, sometimes works the first time. Tried play with Energy saving settings with no luck and removing peripherals from Studio and plugging them into Studio display again with no luck. Checked Activity monitor settings and nothing running that shouldn’t be. Otherwise it's been perfect for my needs.

I have the same issue and found creating a shortcut to sleep as a moderate solution - go to System Preferences > Keyboard under the tab Shortcuts and select App Shortcuts in the left column, then click the plus button. In the dialog box use Sleep for the "Menu Title" field and select a free shortcut. I used F6 using the ‘moon’ as I do not use ‘do not disturb’. You will then find it is listed under the  menu. It does still wake sometimes after immediate sleep but hitting the key is faster. See if it works.

I have had my studio max doing it every once in a great while, moved the cables around and it stopped. Very weird kinda like the Taos hum. So far the studio works flawlessly, had it for 1.5 months.

Could you share a quick video (made with your cellphone, next to the back of the mac studio, without pointing it directly into the exhaust) that would be great

I have had my new Mac Studio setup for almost 24 hours. I have heard no noise. I can't even tell it's on unless I look at the light on the front of the unit.

I read somewhere that young people hear higher frequency sounds more than older people. I'm glad I am older (58) and don't hear the noise. For what I do which is mainly web developing, photography and a little bit of video the Mac Studio is perfect for me. I know I probably would not want the Mac Studio if I was using as a music studio or something that required really quiet surroundings.

Mine is silent from about 12 inches from the front to my ears and doesn't get picked up by my microphone at 18 inches. The mini is located about 2.5 feet from where I sit so it is essentially silent. BTW, here are my thermals this morning:

My experience with my Mac Studio is so-so. I purchased mine when my old iMac imploded and the only one I could access during the covid/China supply chain bottleneck was a base level max, which hasn't been good enough for my work so far. I've also got a whining model. I've had issues with display management and bluetooth. I do love the form factor and IO though and it would be quiet if it weren't for the high pitched whine (fan whooshing is fine). I've just upgraded to a 16" MBP 12/38c 96gb ram 2TB which is closer to the machine that I had planned to get when I had to get the Studio 🤞

I'd like to sell my Mac Studio but reluctant to sell on a whining machine to someone else, even though I am able to get around it by adjusting fan speeds. Hopefully Apple offer reasonable trade value in future but I doubt it.

every Studio has a whining noise (because there is active cooling), but some care, some even can't hear it. So it is ok.
