Can you get a student discount on Amazon? Hm...I have the luxury of living next to the beautiful, tax free Granite State (with its 2 Apple Stores within 5 miles of MA), and get a nice 8% corporate discount on top of that.

No, I meant, if I bought the 8 core through the Apple store, even with the student discount I'd still get robbed by tax. It would bring the price to just about $500 under the Amazon price for the Mac Pro. So in the end I'd be better off just waiting a little longer and buying a 12 core. Better than flushing down money on communist taxes.

I wish I lived in a tax-free state but someone has to support the millions of illegals on welfare here in the sunny People's Republic of Mexifornia. ;-)

It's not that bad if a computer is non functional and one of those items that the customer would otherwise just put in a a closet and forget. It provides a valid option as many people won't hassle with placing a potentially broken or nearly dead machine on ebay.

I see -- CA taxes being one of the highest in the US, it does shift the balance in favor of Amazon quite a bit. BTW, I like your attitude Sooner or later the real Californians, haha, (the ones who emigrated from OK, KS, IO, IL, IN, OH, NY, MA, etc.) must rise up, else the US cede CA to MX.
