1. Does it have a connection for the ear plugs to play music?

2. Can you use this without the iphone?

in the presentation, they used it without the iphone just fine. but yet they say its "required with the iphone" ? i know that without the iphone i cant use the phone, text or mail but i dont care about that.

1) No. You can use bluetooth headphones though.

2) Without an iPhone, it's essentially just a watch that tells the time. You can listen to music stored on it, and view photos stored on it, but not much else really.

^^

The Apple Watch won't have any SIM card or data capabilities apart from BlueTooth 4.0. Essentially, it requires an iPhone to tether to and feed data through.

FYI:: im just gonna use it for the music player for the gym and to tell time, the other features are a bonus, like photos and apps. keep in mind that i do have a iMac to transfer my music

Fair call, but what's wrong with an iPod Nano - or the hundreds of other products (not as expensive at the :apple:Watch that can play music also?

Count your steps, running distance, heart rate, burned calories, make Apple payments etc. Things that a normal watch that just tells you the time won't do it.

Does iPod nano do any of these above? Guess not.

You can make Apple payments without an iPhone?

I hope the watch tracks steps better than every other wrist device, which tracks being sat at a desk raising your hand to eat as a walking!

You MUST own an iPhone to control the :apple:Watch.Your Samsung phone (in your sig) will NOT work. Installing music, photos and Apps is done through an iPhone. The :apple:Watch has no way to connect or sync with your Mac except via an iPhone.

This is correct. Apple states it requires an iPhone 5 or later on the Apple Watch website.

You still can use it with reduced functionality when you haven't got your iPhone with you, but you will need to own an iPhone.

The current theory is that the watch will still be able to make payments even when not connected to the phone, but that hasn't been verified.

Correct. So far is just a rumor but would be interesting to know. Still don't see much of a point since I can't imagine being out and about without my phone.

Also don't forget the $349 starting point will be the smaller "38" sized watch so if you want the manly "42" I would imagine an extra $50.

hmmm, i think apple did a mistake with just being able to use the apple watch with the iphone, kind of limited # #

The reason for this (going off of rumors) is that running all of the processes on the Apple Watch itself would greatly reduce battery life, so much of what the watch does is streamed from the iPhone.

Depending on how well the launch is I could potentially see them making an Android app for the watch or in future iterations when battery life is no longer an issue it might run its own processes and be able to be used on its own.

good idea, maybe you should work for apple lol

I'm confused, is there not an Android Wear watch that has some of these features that will work with the S3?
