200+FPS Pictures w/in!

Ok... I know some people raised an eyebrow when I claimed to get 200+ FPS,
so I re-formatted and did a fresh install to make sure there wasn't something flukey software glitch happening.

Enjoy ;)~

This was in OSX you say? Any idea how quick it is in Windows via BootCamp?

I haven't tried it in Windows... but it will be most likely faster, as I can overclock the video card in Windows, but not in OSX...

However, just to be clear, this isn't the AVERAGE speed I'm seeing outside.... Outside I'm probably getting 35-45fps for lows, and 45-65-80 fps most of the time in most situations out side... the 110+ FPS areas are apparently in the cities where there is less stress from drawing the backgrounds...

But still, this is a great testiment to the power of this "Consumer" machine... :)

To compare, my father in law's Dual Core Intel 3.4Ghz (original dual core chip) P4 Windows XP Gaming Box with nVidia 7900 Card is getting a MAX of 60FPS in WOW... :) However, he does get a solid 50-55FPS Average in all situations no matter how stressed...

So... to be this close to a machine that was made as a pure gaming rig is not too shabby, and WAYYYY beyond my expectations, to be honest ;)

Plus, it's beautiful, completely SILENT, and HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE ... oh, AND I can dual-boot OS X and XP.

Was a no-brainer for me :)

well I know why your getting such good framerates. your a gnome and the computer doesn't have to compute that much. :rolleyes: anyway wow thats some power. do you have 6x aa.

hehe no... no 6x fsaa... and I'm the little gnome because thats what my little 5 year old daughter asked me to be ;)

And the Apple+Option+3 takes a picture of whatever you are in and saves it to the desktop...

EDIT: MY BAD: It is actually APPLE + SHIFT + 3... my fingers know how to do it, but apparently my mind did not :) hehe ooops!

Out of interest, what does OnyX actually do (you say optimised with OnyX)?

thats weird my mbp has x1600 mobile 128mb and has 6x aa and that 7600 gt doesnt. but i get kernel panics galore when i go 6x. bout 1 every 20 mins. 4x is smooth as butter though. :confused:

The framerate you get is not too strange since you are not using any shader effects or any FSAA. You also use LoD.

It's still nice though.

I'm mad because Apple will force me to buy a 24" iMac or a Mac Pro :(. I already have a 24" display! I really wish they would release some kind of Conroe Mac.

damn thats some sweet performance, it makes me doubt between the macpro and the imac 24", i would use the computer for a lot of photoshop stuff, lets say 70 procent of the time and 30 procent of the time for gaming, but i wanna be shure that my computer will last for like 5-6 years and it must be able to play NEXT-GEN games, any idea for wich one i should go
the prices arent that different, but the imac has the 24 " wich i happen to love, but i might think that the mac pro suits me better, any advice???
imac or mac pro???

If you want to play next-gen games for 5-6 years, the Mac Pro with easily-upgradably graphics and quad processors is HANDS DOWN the better choice.

However, your needs are similar to mine, and I'm leaning towards the 24". The savings is just too great to ignore. With that savings I could buy a new laptop next year, or, heck, buy a NEW 24" iMac in two years! That makes the Mac Pro's extra power a little less important to me.

If money was no object I'd go with the Pro + 30" :)

your right on the part of saving money, but sad enaugh i can't say that i have enaugh, i'm allso ordering my new amplifier (the new engl head) wich is also about 2200 euro's with cabinet and all the other things, so i think it might be wiser for me to go with the mac pro :s and my ooooooold 20 inch monitor. :rolleyes: anyways thanks A lot :)

oh and can someone post some oblivion benchmarks on thi 24" (or macpro)

Wow, nice speeds there. Though I wonder how good a performance could you get from a 20" Merom at 2.16 with two gigs of RAM and the 256MB card.

Would be interesting to know, as that's the system I'm planning on buying.

Probably because he has vertical sync enabled :p.

I usually have faster framerates outside and then I choke when I go into a city. Bit confused here. What are your framerates when you're running around in, say, Orgrimmar, or in a 40-man raid?

You know, I don't know. Honestly, I've never done a 40-man raid? lol... I'm only level 16... a very casual gamer... but I'll check out Orgrimmar and see if I can find it :)
