My absolute disdain for Gretzky. He played with the Oilers. Therefore I want to see them lose. I also never want to see LA win another, and the Cyotes ever. IMHO, I think he was extremely lucky and not all that great considering he played the game with the calibur players do today, but with goalies not as talented or mobile.

Anyway, Canes for the win. I wanted Buffalo, but I'll take any eastern conference team over the Oilers.

If you don't have respect for Gretzky, you don't have respect for the game. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Such a pretty pretty goal by Teddy Bear (aka Samsanov)

the carolina had to go and tie it back up. However i do love brindamour

spelling is bad i know

Yuck.

The Oilers were doing so well, they had such good possession they just couldn't finish. Carolina was playing so well in their zone, Edmonton couldn't get the puck to the net.

Ward and Markkenan played outstanding. Markennen had one amazing glove save. I love glove saves.

omfg

I wanted to see the oilers pull that off...but my omfg is in regards to the first oilers goal. That play knocked my socks off. Still reeling. :D

And yes, I have seen Gretzky play, but I've also seen Lemiux play, and Forsberg, and Jagr, and lots of other players that were once extremely great. I'd take any one of them over Gretzky.

Anyway, my predictions are right so far. If Canes win game 5 I'll have been right, and hockey will be over until October. :(

I can't believe people don't like Gretzky....He was and is the best..look at his stats, there's your bottom line. True, Lemieux my have taken that title if he wasnt hindered wtih health issues and Crosby/ Ovechkin are just starting but geeez....It's Gretzky. Why don't you say you hate Steve Jobs while you're at it!:p

Gretzky is arguably the greatest player to ever play the game. If you can't respect him for what he's done for the game, you shouldn't be watching be watching it in the first place.

It was a good game. Markkenan also made a fantastic two pad stack save, he was back and forth, and back again. It was a superb save, perhaps not as huge as others when you factor in the timing (overtime, and final minutes) but to follow the puck and then get into position, it was just a joy to watch. I felt that it's been the save of the playoffs so far.

OK, 'Canes up 3-1 with the potential final game Wednesday night in Raleigh!

LET'S GO 'CANES!
Whalers Whalers
don't forget where the team came from.

Link.

The booster club is watching the game together tonight at Arch Street Tavern.

Adolescent Canes fans have been real trolls on the Whalers forums.

Go Oilers.

Hey, I have no problem at all with Hartford getting an NHL team... as long as it isn't the one that plays in Raleigh now. The 'Canes have had a LOT more success during their time in Raleigh than they ever did as the Whalers in Hartford, and I think we've earned the right to keep them.

There's a reason why the RBC Center is "The Loudest House in the NHL"... despite what those Edmonton-loving homers (especially Pierre McGuire) on NBC have been saying. Caniacs pushed the sound level at the RBC Center to a peak of over 128 decibels during Game 1; we love our team and we love to yell about it.

Let's go 'Canes!

A lot of the Whalers failure was an owner that under no circumstances wanted the team to remain in Hartford. So he put no money into getting a good product on the ice.

The whalers were so cool. I loved them as a kid. :D

I'd love to see Hartford get an NHL team but I don't see it happening any time soon. I think the first step to getting people back to Hartford is not a pro sports team (unfortunately), but a pro sports team could follow...:)

After the whalers I didn't really care about hockey, but then a few years ago my friends got me re-hooked on the Rangers.

As far as the playoffs go this year, I'm for the Oilers...partially because they're the underdog right now, and also because I f***ing hate Brind'Amour. Grrrr.

I really don't see it as the Canes fans that pushed the decibles up so high. Where were they during the Buffalo series when Buffalo's fans were showing them up in loudness every game? I think it's more of fans of the NHL being at the game and rooting on because they're at the Stanley Cup Finals. I don't see the Canes having much of a true fan base (notice how they don't continue chanting when their team isn't playing so hot).

The problem with getting any pro team back to Hartford is that fact that the fan base is either Ny or Boston, A baseball team would never survive, Same with Football. The Patriots were the best chance of a pro team moving but that was all show and had no real chance of happening. The only sports that could survive are Basketball or Hockey. To say that Hartford isn't able to support a pro team is ludicrous, Some major sports fans live here the problem is they root for other teams.

I think most Whalers fans are paying passive attention, but there's certainly no Hurricane hatred. We wish the Canes well, but we think Karmanos is a rat.

I sort of agree. A lot of people are working really hard to make Hartford a safe, liveable city again. But don't underestimate the impact of a professional sports franchise -- I don't think Hartford has yet recovered from the economic impact of losing the Whalers.

Did I see empty seats in the upper deck tonight? Or did I mislook?

I wasn't a Whalers fan or a hockey fan in general but its the principal, Im rooting against Karmanos more then the Canes but I still don't want them to win, The fans seem to forget the history of the franchise and thats what pisses me off most.

It's because he's a Joe Sakic look-a-like, isn't it?

Haha...I dunno. Just seeing him angers me. :D

I am, however, very partial to the Avs. They're my favorite team to play in NHL '06...and Sakic's line makes me smile. :)

who hates greatzky? No one said messier... or Orr...agh the list goes on and on.....
Should be an interesting OT, it really sudden death....
i want the canes to win but would like to see another game so lets go Oilers! :p

edit yay another game.....

Ever since I saw his shot for the first time earlier this year, I knew Pisani could be a big time player. That was great forechecking, and a bit of carelessness on the part of the Canes defeseman, but I forget which one it was. GO CANES
