You know, I am actually starting to feel sorry for Vick. I am not excusing him for what he did. He should probably do a few months time for killing those dogs the way he did.

Yet the punishment does not fit the crime. He hasn't even served one day or had a trial and he has lost, what, $120 million? (And probably a career?)

Sorry, but even Snoopy isn't worth that much. :(
No excusing Vick, but you have to consider the contextual mindset of a nation which spends more than $11 Billion a year on dog & cat food.

Yeah, I know. I dated a girl who was Mexican and in Mexico, dogs are animals. They are kept in the backyard and fed once a day. She always thought it was funny that Americans let the dogs in the house, sleep in the bed and are included in family photos.

Pats win despite an ugly game..Too many penalties, dropped passes and a lot of points left on the field. They'll have to play way better next week.. I'm hoping Maroney won't be plauged by the injury bug again this season, but it's not off to a good start..

And the Sammy the Bull Mangini loses again..

Yeah, the red zone offense was terrible.. they also had way too many 3 and outs. A few stupidly dropped passes (Stallworth's comes to mind). Corners could have tightened up coverage a bit more but they did ok. Some missed tackles on defense too.

Definitely not their best performance and Bill will be all over them for it.

Yeah,in the first half red zone, calling 2 running plays when you have 2nd and goal and then 3rd and goal from the 6 with Brady and these WRs is terrible. Morris isn't the answer down there..I'd rather pass to Vrabel than run Moris.

Indeed, I took the Lions on that one.

Also wondering what happened to the Broncs. I only watched the first 10 minutes and it was ugly. Then I checked the score at 8PM and saw just how ugly it was.

Welcome back Bolts?

Green Bay's loss due to Jones' careless fumbles, Favre's carefree pass interceptions, and a lackluster offensive plan the second half which drew deserved boos, was poor enough. But Woodson's reaction to his own fumble on a return (he came up smiling) raised my ire more than anything including the non professional and foolish penalties like 15 yards for a face mask late in the game.

Either they wipe the cocky grins off their face, shake themselves, grow up and humble up, or they may be heading for a downward spiral over the next few weeks.

Those two fumbles by Jones' lost them that game. It took all the air out of them.

And I really don't know what to think about Brett after all these years. I know he is a HOFer based on his records alone but, really, what has he done since 1995 or so? Three good seasons and that's it?

I'd never pick him to QB my team. He throws too many interceptions and makes too many bonehead plays. His foolishness takes the wind out of the teams sails too.

Of course someone had made the comment about Jones' hands being good in a recent interview so the fumbles were going to be a given this week. The announcers also made the comment that Favre had thrown 0 interceptions in his last 134(?) pass attempts, virtually guaranteeing the second half interceptions.

Brett is good when he has a good receiver corps (which he has this year) and a decent running game. Interceptions by him are usually the result of being behind and having to do something spectacular to win the game. The typical Bret reception comes when the score is tied or GB is behind late in the game and he tries to force a pass to advance the ball, which was the case last night.

I was completely disappointed in their inability to adapt when the running game obviously wasn't working in the second half. I can't think of a possession that they had in the second half (before the final 2 minutes) that didn't go short/stopped run, short/stopped run, short/stopped run or botched pass, punt. When you consistently get stopped on the run on first and second down it's time to try something different. As the final 2 minutes managed to show, we could still move the ball, we just chose poor plays.

The fumbles killed us, but with the first half stats we still should have pulled of that game. We were dominant in every aspect (including turnovers) but the Bears proved to adapt better than we did and poor play calling resulted in a complete lack of ball movement giving Chicago better and better field position. Once the game gets close or GB gets behind, that's when Favre is going to make the stupid throws to the other team sometimes they work, most of the time, in the recent past they don't.

That's true for just about every NFL quarterback.....

Then why is it that Brett seems to get all the flack for throwing high profile interceptions? Yes he does it often but just about every QB in when trailing within a couple scores near the end of a game will force plays and end up with either great highlights or huge interceptions.

I think the biggest factor is that GB rarely ends up in situations where they lead by enough to keep Brett from having to pull the stupid maneuvers. Not necessarily Brett's fault alone, seems like more of a whole organizational problem than just the QB.

I think it is one thing to attempt a tough pass to win a game but Brett does things that would get rookies benched. I think he threw a ball (that was intercepted) with his left hand and tossed sideways yesterday so he wouldn't get sacked. That's just foolish.

It is and it isn't. He thought he saw an open man. If it had been the called play of a short shovel pass that had been intercepted would it have been as foolish?

His form is often terrible and sometimes he makes poor decisions (less often these past few years than his earlier career), I'd never offer him as an example to watch for someone learning to be a QB, but he gets results most of the time.

You ask what he's done since 1995?

Divison championships in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, and 2004
Playoff appearances in 1995-1998 and 2001-2004 and pretty close to it last year with a first year coach.
Conference and League Championships in 1996, and 1997
Super Bowl in 1996 (technically in 1997 but the 1996 season)

Since 2004 GB has struggled but we've gone through some pretty big roster shakeups and some coaching changes and we've only had one losing season in that time. A couple of 8-8 years but even that last year almost made the playoffs.

Sure he's had some spectacular missteps but most quarterbacks will when presented with one score down and 2 minutes left. In his prime there was about a 60/40 chance of winning/spectacular turnover. The past couple years it's flipped the opposite way, but we've also been in a lot more close games.

I do admit that announcers (especially Madden) glorify him beyond his worth but he's still a pretty damn good QB and more durable than most.

I will admit that I am biased (if you haven't figured it out already) and there are some who look for every reason to dislike him, just like I do with Randy Moss (perils of longtime Packer fandom).

I think I'm done worshiping him for the day, and please forgive my blatant fanboyism... I'd usually have these debates with someone I can no longer debate so I needed an outlet today. Thanks for putting up with it.

Yeah, what was with the play calling? That was so frustrating to watch in the second half. They kept running when it was obvious that it wasn't working. And the only passing plays were short 3 yard passes to the rb on 3rd and long. What was even more mind boggling was how they ended both halves. Who's calling the plays, head coach or the coordinator? With receivers like Jennings and Driver, why did they ignore them in the second half?

BTW, anybody from St. Louis know the status on Steven Jackson?

Bills Pre-Game...

Wow. I've heard a lot of homers before but this Bills pre-game show I am listening to through NFL's Field Pass is incredible.

First, they are giddy with excitement that MNF has finally returned to Buffalo after 15 or so years. The fact that MNF is now on ESPN instead of ABC so the audience is halved doesn't bother them. NBC Sunday game is now the big deal.

Anyway, instead of saying how close the game could be or how maybe a star player might have a good game they are actually predicting a win and saying how they match up well with this and that player...

The fools.

Plus the city has ground to a halt because of traffic and today is a holiday so traffic should be even lighter than normal. Don't they have paved roads in Buffalo yet?

One prediction... 21-24... Buffalo

The rest are all Cowboys winning by just 3-7 points.

Bills looking pretty decent so far, and Trent Edwards is running a pretty tight ship. Just got a little help from Kelsay...got the bat and the INT for the TD...nice. And now another INT for Romo.

Didn't hear the pregame, but there's no way a Bills game would tie up the whole city. The Southtowns are always a mess before and after games, but the city itself and north should be fine.

Buffalo certainly had its share of MNF games during the Bills' heydey, so it's nice to have some of that nostalgia flowing freely. It's about all we've got these days.

Enjoying a nice Monday night. Bills with four picks already and up on the Cowboys, and the Tribe leads the modern day ruination of baseball, Steinbrenner's team, 6-1 on the verge of elimination. It doesn't get that much better. ;)

Bills D is bringing it tonight.Romo is looking very Bledsoe esque... They gotta keep bringing it..

Ugg..Gotta go for it there on 4th and 3..Wide right no less!
