Wow just got my SSD and RAMS. I'm so surprised by the performance. Best upgrade i've felt in a long time. Using my SSD for Booting and Opening Apps.
For home i'm using the Old HDD that was first installed. Think that's a good idea or just wipe everything out and use the SSD as Home? any suggestions? Since I don't have much install right now because I just bought it few days ago. Any good idea on that?

I'd try and keep the stuff that doesn't need the speed on a regular HD, and the apps and system on the SSD. A little tricky to do in OSX but SSD's run out of space quickly.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Well I do music production most of the times. No games or anything like that.
To save those music files I usually use the other HDs

It sounds like you got a pretty nice price on that machine. Ram and SSDs are good as they don't so much speed up cpu performance. They keep it from slowing down at times. The 2008 models still seem pretty decent in some things even in spite of the older FSB design. I would make sure the inside is clean. You do not want that logic board choking on dust.

Yea, I had to use a alias of my iTunes from my HD (my older SL install) that had 200+ GB of music on it, I only run a 256 Crucial M4. Hold down option while starting iPhoto to select my old iPhoto library from my HD as well. I work in video so I've got nearly 14TB HD space in a few RAIDs attached to my MacPro. So happy to see prices on SSD's falling so quickly. Can't wait to go SSD for everything. $$$$$$

Well i'm not quite sure if it was a good price on the mac pro. You can check out the specs on the first page lol The case was kind of broken so I had to buy a new enclosure. Didn't have time / and knowledge to do it myself. :( Well mac's working fine just the look of the case not so good lol

I think I may have misread. I do that at times. I read 3.2 rather than 3,1 2.8 (blah). I figured under $1000 was a good price for a clean 2008 8 core. If the case was broken, that's not so good. What happened to the case?

Well the case was bend on the bottom of the case which didn't effect the functionality. Did you read that it had 4gb of 667ram :(. As I said I have another new home for the mac. Think it is easy to tranfer all the components???????HELP~

Ugh.... they actually used older ram. I guess it wouldn't affect real world performance too much in most usage scenarios, but it's still annoying. I would personally suggest you look at ifixit for repair instructions. What is good about them is that they mention all required tools. I'd personally use a wrist ground and not walk around when doing the repair. This will not be fun if you've never built or repaired a computer before.

^^^Case swap isn't hard if you're patient and precise person equipped with proper tools :)
You need 3 mm diameter hex key – about 9" long, Philips screwdriver and Apple Service Manual for MP 2008 (see on Scribd, there is one).
It shouldn't take more than 2 hours for the first time.

swap isn't a problem.. i'm just afraid I might do something wrong to the mac :( anyone know the label fee for swap around LA?

If you are mounting a SSD in the internal bays save yourself the $30 for a useless sled and just side mount the 3.5" adaptor onto the drive next to the bay you are putting the SSD into. Then slide the SSD onto the sled and click it into the SATA connection. It's supported by the sled and held in place by the connector. SSD's weigh next to nothing so it won't budge and there's no stress on the connector this way.
Quick free way to mount a SSD in your MacPro

Genius!
