2008 Mac Pro worth upgrading?

got the 250gb samsung evo850 ($85) and 16gb (4x4gb) from efetcher ($80). everything up and running. i think i'm good for a little while now (and for not too much $$).

Hi, I know it's a while since you wrote this but I have same computer (Mac Pro Early 2008, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon). I'm looking for 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM ram to upgrade it, preferably 2x 8gb cards i.e. 16 gb total (or 2x 4gb cards as next choice and then 4x 4gb as last choice). I have 2 slots available for a matched pair & want to increase the current 14gb RAM. OWC & RAMJet are expensive so I checked efetcher but can't find it anywhere. (I'd buy on e-bay if there was a long warranty). Can you or someone pls guide me to what you purchased or similar, assuming it's still available? Thanks very much!

I did a quick scan and didn't see any 8gb sticks available from them though. Looks like the highest they go from this seller is 4gb.

You don't necessarily need DDR2-800s, the 667 one do just fine with not much performance loss, if your CPU supports that. At the top of this forum is a sticky thread about your CPU choices for the Macpros and it also lists which speed the memory has to have.

Just ordered an upgrade for the WiFi/BTLE card to support Continuity and High Sierra (with patch.) Should be good for another year or two for my wife.
