ESPN knew he would walk out on the interview, so it kind of is a trap. It was just a ratings grab. I didn't see the interview but from what I saw of the promo it was a set up. They were not after a legit interview just to make him look bad. How many other players have lied about their age.

I would suggest not making assumptions about an interview you didn't even watch. Yes, he walked out on the interview, but the E60 segment's bigger story is that the feds may use lying on his visa application to squeeze him for their steroid investigations. His age was just one of three things he seemed to fib about. The others were the spelling of his name and, perhaps most importantly, that he'd never used any illegal drugs. Lying about the drug question is something that people have been deported for. The story was that the feds may threaten Tejada with deportation if he doesn't give more details on steroid use by major-league players. That was the story. If they had not interviewed Tejada about it, then it would have looked like ESPN wasn't giving him a chance to air his side of the story.

Yes, it was edited in such a way to ratchet up the drama and therefore the ratings, but so is everything else that is put on TV. And yes, ESPN confronted Tejada on-camera with the expectation that he would react in a dramatic way. But ESPN's investigation of his birth certificate is a light inquiry compared to what the feds are about to do. Before now, Tejada was suspected of steroid use. He may become a public spectacle soon the way that Pettitte was. And if it also means he lied to a congressional committee, it could ugly pretty fast.

Lastly, there's no reason to think that ESPN deceived him. His answers seem to be genuine and it doesn't look like anything was taken out of context. Entrapment would be if he was conned by someone into taking steroids or lying on his visa application. There's no reason to think that's happened.

I bet ya George Bush would!

:D

Sorry, had to be said.

he actually traded sammy sosa from the rangers in his days of owning the team.;)

but zito is horrid now, 0-6 with a era over 7. what happened to him? was it the wrong side of the bay? drug related issues? just shocking that a six mile move did this much to him.

actually, after checking his stats, it looks like outside of a couple of years, zito was more or less overhyped as a pitcher, and is probably a #3 or #4. but he's been awful since going to the nice part of town.

Six miles and one league.

I don't know, but the Giants certainly have to be asking by now what they bought, and whether he's playing hurt and not saying.

zito is out of the rotation

looks like the giants aren't going to stand for a guaranteed loss every 5 days anymore, as they are moving zito to the pen. link coming...

As far as I know, he said all of his legal documents (license, green card, etc) had the correct information and that he only lied to MLB.

I just saw on the ESPN bottom line that the Giants are moving Zito to the bullpen. Most expensive reliever ever!

wooo, ****ing walk off.

Youkilis with the walk off RBI single off Halladay.. Sox win 1-0.

Lester 8IP 1H 0R :D

the braves are a mess right now. we lost again tonight (great job glavine) 6-3 to the sad nationals, and we had to put smoltz on the dl. we're in a bit of trouble right now...

ugh. if he is a good reliever it is money well spent...
:rolleyes:ok, even i don't buy that. no silver lining here. rebuild.

just noticed giants still not in last and the O's tied for first... this is good stuff... june will ruin it. but for now good, good stuff.

mmm... day games

3 games and nothing else to do this afternoon (intentionally). this is when MLB.TV Mosaic truly shines.

EDIT: ... except for second innings like this.

Mets willing to trade Oliver Perez for a bag of balls

I've said it before in this thread, he is such a hot and cold pitcher... not that that is wholly unique. He has pitched great this year, shut-out ball more often than not.

And then something like this... 7 walks and 6 earned runs in 1.2 innings.

LOL, send a pitcher in to pinch hit in a game they are slamming Randy Johnson -- and Micah Owings ties the game with a home run.

Edit: should make the highlights, sending a pitcher in with two outs swinging at the first pitch he sees ... and ties the game.

wooo, second walk off in as many nights!

Tek with the RBI single.. Manny scores from 2nd! Sox win 2-1.

Dice-k with 7IP 2H 0ER :D

Starting pitching hasn't been a problem for the Sox..Middle relief? Now that's another story..DelCarmen needs to get it straightened out....

NEW YORK - Roger Clemens had a decade-long relationship with country star Mindy McCready that began when she was a 15-year-old aspiring singer and the pitcher was a Boston Red Sox ace, the Daily News reported.

"I cannot refute anything in the story," McCready told the newspaper in a story posted on its Web site Monday night.
