Quick follow up for anyone who's interested. On Friday I installed a replacement logic board. The iMac came back to live and for the first time I heared it chime. Right after that, the fans started spinning at full speed and the display didn't came on. I asked the seller of the replacement logic board about this and it appears that he gave me a logic board for the middle range model, which needs a dedicated graphics card I don't have.

I am now looking to buy another replacement board with the integrated NVIDIA graphics card. Hopefully the machine runs fine then!

Hope that the cost of buying another replacement board is not too high to obstruct your hobby.

Well, I found the correct logic board on eBay yesterday for just $30 in perfect working condition, so that's not too bad. Besides, I can resell the power supply and the other replacement board as they both work fine.
Nice score, I picked up a 2010 board for $22.50 AUD listed as faulty. After I bought the GPU from this stripped down iMac for $25 and tested it in a 2010/11 21.5 i realised that the card was faulty causing random shutdowns.

The seller accepted a refund for the card, I then asked him what the fault on the logic board was, random shutdowns? Yes.
I hinted to him that the board was probably fine and offered him $10, he accepted 😉
On arrival i inspected the board and found 4 cpu pins bent which i carefully bent back with a sewing needle, he packed the board so badly no protection and in a plastic satchel. Not sure if the pins were bent in transit but long story short the board works perfectly 👍, my original board is immaculate so, ill keep it as a spare or flip it later if needed.
