Well, at last I have OS Mojave up and running. The Sapphire RX 580 I purchased was brand new and came in a sealed box, and it has two BIOS. I am very happy with the GPU upgrade and being able to run OS Mojave. The only problem I am encountering now is that I am not able to find my purchases in the App Store. In 2016 I purchased Affinity Photo, Logic Pro and Aperture 3.6 (from my Mac Pro) ,but now none are available for download on the Mac Pro. On my mid-2012 MacBook Pro 13" running OCLP and OS Monterey my purchases in the App Store are visible and available for download. How strange?

That could be an AppleID sign in error - perhaps log out and then back in to iCloud and the App Store and see if that fixes it.

I have done what you suggest and also removed the MacPro from my AppleID and reconnected again. No luck.
Before I upgraded to the RX580 and OS Mojave earlier this week App Store worked perfectly well with the MacPro and OS High Sierra.

Did you tried a deep NVRAM reset? Mac App Store doesn't check the hardwareIDs of the BootROM like iCloud, but is always the first step to diagnose it. Remove any OC/OCLP ESPs from you Mac Pro too.

I have no Apple wired keyboard in my possession, only Bluetooth. I guess the best I can do with my Bluetooth keyboard is a simple NVRAM reset (once), which I will try.

Forgive my lack of knowledge: Can I use a current Apple Magic Keyboard with Lightning to USB-C cable as a wired keyboard on the MacPro 5.1? Or do I need to search for an old proper Apple wired keyboard?

I need this in order to perform a deep NVRAM reset.

cMP doesn't have USB-C.
ANY USB keyboard should work, doesn't need to be an Apple one.

You can use a Lightning to USB-A cable with Apple line of Magic Keyboards, that's how my Magic II is connected to my MacPro6,1.

Magic/Magic II keyboards worked for single NVRAM resets, even when wired - see more about that in the end of this post. Since Apple very recently sent a firmware update (2.06) to the Magic line of keyboards, I do not yet tested to see if now the multiple continuous NVRAM resets (aka deep NVRAM reset) when connected via the Lightning cable to the Mac Pro now work after the firmware update.

So, with a Magic keyboard is confirmed that, at least, one single NVRAM reset works.

Let's make it clear about wired KBs with the MacPro5,1, it's definitively not all wired KBs work. There are at least three different behaviors with USB keyboards and MacPro5,1

  • keyboards that do not work at all for NVRAM resets,
  • keyboards that work for the first NVRAM reset and disappear,
  • keyboards that work for multiple continuous NVRAM resets.

Lot's of wired USB keyboards do not work correctly, some work for the first NVRAM reset and then disappear needing a disconnection to work again, like Microsoft Wired 600 and several Logitech, and do not work for the multiple continuous NVRAM reset.

Thanks....I didn't know this (as all my KB's are Apple)....👍

I managed to get hold of a Magic Keyboard and connect to the Mac Pro with a Lightning to USB-A cabel, and the deep NVRAM reset went fine. I am able to purchase apps via the App Store, but purchase history is still not visible in the App Store app. I cannot see (and download) any of my purchased apps. I believe I have to contact Apple Support.

Try logging out and then back in.
The last few days I have logged out and back in on my AppleID, iTunes account and App Store countless times, without having any success with App Store. I even purchased and downloaded an App this weekend from the App Store on my Mac Pro, but my account on the App Store still says: "No purchases".

I have done three important things with my Mac Pro recently:

1. Installed Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX580
2. Updated to BootROM 144.0.0.0.0
3. Installed OS 10.14.6 Mojave

The Mac Pro seems to function like normal, apart from the issue with App Store "No purchases".

Would it be worth while to reinstall OS High Sierra, and see if App Store functions in 10.13.6?

The solution to my MAS problem:

1. Clean install of OS High Sierra on my 2010 Mac Pro. In OS High Sierra the Mac App Store functioned perfectly.
2. Download and install Logic 10.4.8, Aperture 3.6 and my other purchased apps.
3. Copy the apps to a backup HD.
4. Reinstall OS Mojave 10.14.6.

The MAS still shows the "No purchases" message, but it doesn’t matter anymore, I now have copies of my purchased apps and can install these on my Mac Pro.

Conclusion to my opening post and main query:

Aperture 3.6 functiones equally well in OS Mojave as in OS Sierra. My Aperture library is not placed on the Boot volume (only the Aperture app itself is on the Boot volume), but on a separate "Master" HFS+ formatted SSD, which I believe is important for Aperture to function well.
