Probably a good idea to wait if your system is like mine: Mac Pro late 2013 with TB display either dual or single. I tried intsalling Monterey Beta 9 and had the exact same issue at the same spot. Will wait for Beta 10.
... and that was trying to install Beta 9? I almost started the update process yesterday, but then luckily enough realised that it was still trying to update to Beta 8.

Yes, correct. Beta 9 has the same result as Beta 8. So I'm going to wait and see what the next beta brings.

Actually Beta 9 worked for me just fine. I ran the install on-top-of Beta 6, and it went through with no issues. I am now on Beta 9 (21A5543b) on my Mac Pro 2013 with two Apple ATDs connected...

Killerbob, do you have a link to the Beta 6 installer by any chance? Seems like that could work. I was trying to upgrade first over Beta 7, then most recently over the latest BigSur. The key might be to go from Beta 6 to Beta 9, which I would do if I had a good Beta 6 installer.

Yep - Beta 10 installs, but doesn't sort out any issues...
I had two issues with Beta 9 - Both fixed in Beta 10👍

1. A Photoshop issue where it kept showing a force quit, after I quit.

2. Fitbit Connect 2.0.2 not importing data.

I was able to install Beta 9 but only when updating from Beta 6. That said, Beta 10 updated just fine from Beta 9 and continues to work, though Photoshop tends to give a crash message only when quitting. All else seems to work exactly as on Big Sur.

I am using Creative Suite as well (on now Beta 10) and have not seen any issues with Photoshop or Lightroom Classic.

Hey Killerbob!

Could be some other combination or plugs or the like. Of all the apps I've tried from the latest CS, only Photoshop has an issue and only on quitting. It doesn't affect anything -- i.e. no freeze or hang, but I do get the notice that the app has crashed. These things often resolve themselves with the next beta. This just started with Beta 10 by the way.

I had the Photoshop quitting issue in Beta 9. Seems to have gone away in Beta 10.

I just want to send out a warning for 2013 Mac Pro users NOT to try and update to Monterey Beta 8!!! It does NOT work, and it toasts your Mac Pro. You start the install, the Mac Pro reboots, and then it hangs. You can reboot all you want, it does not get any further than about 30%. You cannot go into Recovery, as it doesn’t exist, and you cannot restore from Time Machine. The ONLY solution I found was using another Mac to download Monterey Beta 6, create a USB installer, and then install Beta 6 ”on top” of the failed Beta 8 installation. That works.

The result is of course that you are back to Beta 6, and you can’t update to Beta 7 anymore. Hence, you need to stay away from Beta 8. Several people have reported this issue.

If anyone has the Delta Beta 6 -> Beta 7 installer, or a Beta 7 install file I can make a USB installer from, I’d very much appreciate a link.
Had the same problem, and the only solution was to erase and reformat SSD using Internet tools, which worked. Following that, I was able to reinstall Big Sur and recover my data from Time Machine using Migration Assistant. This was the very first time that I had this kind of problem on any of my Macs. Beta 9 and Beta 10 installed trouble free. I am worried that this, and some other software issues may indicate that Apple software organization is experiencing problems.
I would imagine that Public Beta, while not free of bugs, would be of better quality and stability than Beta 8. Apple has plenty of scratch not to push basic testing on greater public. Also, I have not been able to figure out to whom and how should I report that nasty bug.

I agree - my Mac Pro 2013 is definitely more responsive after updating to RC...
