I recently got a 2019 MBA and so far I have not had any issues. I run with the fancy stuff disabled (true tone, auto brightness) and around 80% of max.

Different panel. The colors and brightness are supposed to be better in the base MBP, but the MBA works just fine for me.

Just took delivery of a 2019 mbp13, 1.4 a few days ago, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD. I have auto brightness and True Tone on. I see this flickering once every couple hours while working. Based on what I read it sounds like a software issue. I'm going to try Catalina beta to see if that resolves it, if not then I may have to return it. Awesome laptop otherwise. So sporadic, but for what I spent on it I shouldn't be dealing with BS graphical issues.
