Also, just asking this because you are much more knowledgeable than I. I’m having trouble downloading a pdf that is zipped. It’s sticker pages from Etsy. I’ve downloaded iZip, but I cannot unzip them before or after saving in Dropbox. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve contacted the seller, but she is in Australia, so I have no idea when I might hear back, and wondered if you or someone else in the thread might be able to offer some help.

I believe Documents by Readdle can unzip files. Maybe that will help you.

There are a LOT of videos on youtube about this! I designed one for myself, about 1 year ago, but it was really slow to turn pages etc. I did download Goodnotes 5 today and it works way better. I am a graphic designer, so it is heavy on the graphics and lots of links. I may try to make another one - but I am NOT sure what I want in it. LOL

I have watched a lot of videos from Tom Solid - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8qxhdxV0U2NQ9vinFffDJQ he is Really good at the details of how the note apps work.

Well off to watch some more videos. I really don't want to duplicate calendar in good notes as well as in calendar app. But it would be nice to have the planner have my weekly/daily tasks that don't change -not on the calendar. Plus I have sticky note app opened in dual screen with my calendar. So I am trying to think about how to do that better. :)

@sracer Great work, and great spirit of sharing !
Allow me to shamelessly offer my YT channel, for anyone that wants to know "pixel-details" on creating GoodNotes templates ;-)
Thanks! And it comes full circle... because I watched some of your videos to help me be able to create GoodNotes templates.

Hey - I have another question for those of you who are probably way more familiar with all this than I; if I want to add a screen shot of something as a page into a planner (I’ve downloaded one to use for my business), do I just add a regular page then paste my image onto that page, or can I actually add the image as its own page?

And also, when adding a page, is my only option adding one of the pages that comes with the planner/journal? When I click to add a page ahead or behind, I only get the types of page options that are in GoodNotes - not ones that actually match the planners.

I know I’m likely missing something here.

You would add a page (any page, a default GoodNotes page, or one from any other notebook) and then paste (and resize) the image on that page.

If you want to use a page from the same planner/journal, follow these steps from the first post in this thread:
(basically, first copy the page, then add it)

HOW-TO Copy and paste pages within the planner
  1. Make sure you have Goodnotes open and the planner loaded.
  2. tap on the icon with 4 blocks in the upper left. (that brings up an overview of all pages)
  3. tap on "Edit" in the upper right.
  4. tap on the blank page you want to copy (there will be an orange/red border on the page.
  5. on the bottom of that dialog, tap "Copy".
  6. tap "Done" in the upper right.
  7. while still on this overview window, tap "+" in the upper left.
  8. (you should see (+) icons before and after every page)
  9. Locate where in the planner you want to put this new blank page.
  10. tap on the (+) icon to the right of the page (to add the page AFTER that page)
  11. (a popup menu appears) tap on "Paste Copied Pages"
  12. tap on "Done".

If you want to add a page from ANOTHER notebook within GoodNotes, use the same steps above, but in step #1 go to the notebook that contains the page you want to copy. Then in between steps #6 and #7, open the notebook where you want to paste the page.

Okay thanks! I am getting a lot of it down (even though it may not seem like it), but sometimes I just lose where I am when there are a lot of steps. It’s getting better as I get more familiar with it all - thanks so much!
[doublepost=1548597303][/doublepost]One more question - once I copy an image into my notebook, does that image have to stay in my photos, or could I delete it? I tried shifting some photos into folders and learned that I can’t delete them from the main folder or it would delete them from within the other folders - just wondering if it’s the same when I’ve actually copied and pasted the images into a notebook.

I want to be able to put my clients’ confirmation sheets within my planner for my travel agent business, but I obviously don’t want to have them deleted if I remove them from my photos.

Once you've pasted an image into a GoodNotes notebook, you can delete the image from wherever it came from.

Keep plugging away! The more you use GoodNotes the more "comfortable" it will feel. It took me a while to get comfortable with it and I still only know a fraction of what it can do.

An update:

Since Apple announced the iPad Mini 5 that supports the Apple Pencil, I have been tinkering with the digital planner on my iPad Mini 4 and Adonit Dash 3 (powered capacitive stylus). Normally, there is no palm-detection on the iPad using a stylus like this, but GoodNotes has its own palm-detection built-in. When I first tried it, it didn't work. But after adjusting the handwriting position setting in GN, the results are really pretty accurate.

Is anyone else using a non-Apple Pencil (Logitech Crayon) stylus with GoodNotes? If so, what make/model and what has your experience been?

Greetings all! 2019 is a few days away and it's the perfect time to start planning on how to be more productive and organized in the new year. If you have an iPad that supports the Apple Pencil then you have a great tool to assist you in this endeavor.

After watching a few videos about using the iPad as a planner, I decided to make my own planner. I've been using it for the past 9 months and have received a lot of interest from my co-workers about how to go about setting up a similar thing.

Since I just finished creating a new one for 2019, I figured I'd make it available to anyone else who would like it. It's free!

If you're interested, this is what you'll need:
  • an iPad with Apple Pencil support (this notebook/planner is optimized for the non-Pro 2018 iPad)
  • an Apple Pencil
  • the GoodNotes app for iOS (optionally the macOS version for desktop access to the notebook)
  • basic knowledge of using GoodNotes
How to install it:
Just download the attached .PDF file to your iPad and load it into GoodNotes.

If you are not familiar with how to do this... here are the steps:
  1. Once you install GoodNotes, on your iPad, use Safari (on your iPad) to go to this post.
  2. scroll down until you find the attachment for the PDF.
  3. tap on the attachment. (a new tab will open and prompt you)
  4. The default action might be something like "GoodReader", under that will be "More..." tap on "More..."
  5. On the pop-up window, swipe the top row of colored icons to the left to view the other options...
  6. You should see an option that says, "Copy to GoodNotes". Tap on that.
  7. From there GoodNotes launches and you'll be asked what category to put it in. Select "Uncategorized"
That's it! The planner is installed. Tap on it to open it. Just keep in mind that you need to tap on the ( / ) icon (pen with the "prohibited" icon over it) to navigate through the links in the planner.

How to use it:
This is the cover page.
View attachment 812227
Along the top are tabs that take you to the beginning of each month. The dog-ear in the upper right corner will take you back to the cover from anywhere in the notebook. (helpful when you are on a page with confidential information and need to hide it quickly)

You can write or type a title/heading anywhere on the page. You can also paste an image if you want to change the cover art.
Along the bottom are six "speed dial" tabs that take you to individual sections.

This is the monthly overview page.

Here is where you can record highlights/outlooks for the month. At the beginning of the month, you can copy and paste one of the custom pages and templates included in the notebook as needed. (see instructions for copying and pasting pages within GoodNotes)

This is a grid page.

There are also blank pages and meeting notes page templates.

This is a "speed dial" page.

You can write/type the section name in the box. If more pages are needed, simply copy and paste the desired blank page templates after this page.

If you give it a try, please post your experiences! If you have suggestions for improving it, post those too!

Here's a video that I found on YouTube by someone who uses GoodNotes and their iPad as a digital planner. Although her planner looks very different than this one, you can get an idea of how to use GoodNotes with this planner.

Spectacular!

@sracer: Thank you for your planner template. I have enjoyed using it. I am not an iPad nor am I an iOS person. Imported the .pdf onto LectureNotes on my GTA8SP and have been using it alongside my usual daily notes (Nebo, S Note and ON) Since my planner are for enterprise usage, unfortunately I can't post picture except this:

Your template is nice and very straightforward. Just the way I like it. Thanks for the contribution agaiin.

Thanks for the kind words and the feedback. I use mine for enterprise work too so I understand the need keep things confidential. We're quickly approaching the time where I'll need to start work on creating a 2020 digital planner notebook and I'm looking for suggestions for changes/additions.

Time to get ready for 2020 calendar!
I've already done some prep work for the 2020 version. I hope to have time next week to complete it and make it ready.

I plan on having a new cover for 2020, but are they any other tweaks anyone would like to see to this to help make it more useful? Maybe additional/different template sheets?
