I wonder if it wouldn't be more worthwhile to have your iMac stripped down by a repair shop and the thermal paste checked/replaced with the best stuff, the whole thing cleaned out if that is an issue, etc. instead of buying a now dead-ended machine costing at least 6k that will require further investment to compete with an i9?

Heck, you could probably get a noise proofed computer cabinet for the little offender and a swanky external screen for way, way less.

If you can buy it in 6 months I wonder if you will be able to save by then in terms of cheaper pricing for the same parts or same pricing for a higher spec. Doesn't Apple reduce their pricing over time? Also hoping more MPX module options during the build process as well as more third party supported upgrades for it.

Price cuts unlikely given the lack of future CPU upgrades and looming replacement. Slight spec updates (as the iMP and mini have received) are possible.
