Has anyone done this? It’s really an Instagram thing with an app that analyzes and counts your likes for you then comes up with a handy grid ready made. It may or may not be accurate based on algorithms and follower numbers but it’s still fun.

If you aren’t on IG or don’t like your grid you can make your own.

All but one of mine is a Lensbaby image. They are all from the last three months or so when I picked up a bunch of followers. I do have some others I might choose if I did a personal grid but I really like this one as a whole and think it generally represents my current work.

There is also a fun one called Year of Color. Not sure you could do this on on your own.

Would love to see everyone else’s. 🙂

I am on Instagram but don't put my own images on there, I primarily use it for other reasons, usually to view images or "stories" that are shared by one of my favorite singers. I feel that putting one's images on Instagram or FB only too easily allows for the possibility of others casually helping themselves to the images and doing whatever they like with them, without the knowledge of the original photographer. Over the years fellow photographers have reported such unpleasant situations.

Molly, just add three more images, find a suitable template and you've got yourself a lovely calendar to have printed up for use in 2020! :)

I'm so hip it hurts. One whole like in 2019 :D . Honestly haven't paid a lot of attention to instagram obviously. I think I did a couple of dozen posts one day when I thought I'd get down with the kids. Perhaps I'll focus on it more this year - there's a lot of good photography on the platform.

I'm not on IG for followers or even likes. I post regularly to keep myself engaged with other photographer friends and also to keep myself accountable for shooting regularly. What's the point of shooting so often if the images aren't shared in some capacity? I don't show many images of my kids there, it's 99% macro/nature/landscape. But as an extreme introvert in the real world, I like having some sort of connection with similarly minded people.

The top photo(s) from each month for POTD 2019:
I linked the original image source from each thread, credited the artist, and totaled the likes. If there was a tie, both images credited in their respective order. Let me know if I miscredited something/someone and I'll correct it.

Drum roll.....

@Darmok N Jalad Holy cow, what an amazing thing to do! That must have taken awhile. Thank you!!

We have an amazing group of photographers here. 💕
Thanks! It did take me a little bit, but doing my own submissions first was my practice round. It's not @needfx level work though. :p

I did notice I added the likes wrong, forgot to add +3 to each, so edits made.

I totally get it - card-carrying Aspie here so having the ability to connect out to people with similar interests is one of the things that keeps me engaged with the world (a very good thing).

These are wonderful images, many of which I recall seeing when they were initially posted. Thanks, Darmok, what a great idea! A couple of the photo forums to which I belong use an ever-changing display each few days of the most outstanding images posted there, which is a great way to honor the photographers and also to show visitors and prospective members to the site what they can expect to see and the various ways in which people interpret their worlds....

What app did you use to count the likes @mollyc
I used my browser and googled Top Nine. There is a Top Nine app, but it writes over the grid - if you use the browser one the text doesn't show up.

I have been trying that top nine site since yesterday and it's crippled, saying millions are using it and forces you to download the app, which watermarks everything. Maybe we just jumped into this too late?

It actually took me several days to get mine done, but I didn't want to use the app so just kept trying.

Also, if you google, I think there are other similar sites that will do the same thing.

Yes this is true. I’ve had the same issue.

Okay good to know, I'll keep at it.

Although when I googled I found other sites but all of them require you to provide your Instagram password as well in order to proceed, which I’m not comfortable with for security reasons. Gonna pass on this one.

My guess is they will all want to plug into your account in order to pull all the stats, I could be wrong though.

Yes I did it last year and haven’t had any password troubles. But I completely understand the concern. 🙂
