Yeah, sorry. Forgot Fred moved teams this year. 😅

And yes, Aston looked good in Winter Testing, but I expect part of that is Lance was not behind the wheel. ;)

I do believe Alonso has a legitimate shot to score wins and should definitely score plenty of points if the car stays reliable.
I would also like to live in this fantasy world...

Glad to see Alonso had a good practice session. But sadly still think it will be Max when it matters.

Potentially another season finding satisfaction from battles further down the field. Red Bull aren’t going to let Checo challenge as they are the only top team that play a number one and two format. Ferrari will allow Charles and Carlos race I think and hopefully they can take some wins. I’ve always had a soft spot for Fernando as I supported him during his first Renault era, but he does make it hard at times once he sours the culture in teams when he’s not getting the support or performance he desires. It would be cool to see him pick up at least one win this season, although I think that might be asking a bit much yet.

If the Red Bull is as good as everybody is suggesting, I think it’ll be another walk to the title for Max. I think we all want to see him fight for a title again as that seems to be unfinished business.

Hoping for a DNF for Max for the first few races to make it interesting.
Hope it’s a good race Sunday.

That McClaren paint scheme is killing me. Hideous.

That’s one thing about Ron Dennis, he had a title sponsor and the livery was very well managed. These days there is no title sponsor and they have literally dozens of brands plastered all over the car in a very disorganised way. Looks like a Spyker to me with the orange and disarray. McLaren is such a prestigious brand too. I hope Zak Brown is gone soon personally.

I'm cool with that.

They let them race no problem, the problem is that Checo needs to be faster. He is fast than most, just not fast enough to be the fastest in Red Bull. He needs to work harder. It makes no logical sense to hold back, up, fight, when there is such a difference. The team looses.

meh same ol' same ol'

I just hope the fact although the order is the same, the closeness in times means we might see other teams winning this year. There’s 6 tenths between Verstappen and Lewis whereas it was a second last season at this point. Great to see Alonso in the mix too and I hope he can do one of his monster starts tomorrow and arrive at turn one with his elbows out. It’ll be a boring race if Ferrari or the others can’t get near that’s for sure.

??? It was 0.557 at this point last season. It is 0.678 this year.

I don’t think RBR had the PU turned up all the way today. I know we were hoping for different results (not all) but you really must give credit due to the RB19. IMO Max could have pushed a good bit harder if he needed to. Really no excuses for Mercedes. They need a new design and Toto needs to not be a co-owner.

Those wanting the RB19 to fail will need to hope for reliability issues. Otherwise it’s 2022 again.

Plenty of time for others to make adjustment. It will be interesting to see how the times are at the high altitude tracks as well.

Let’s see where things are at the break.

Exactly, plenty of time for every team to adjust. LOL Remember last year, it wasn't looking great for Red Bull after a couple of races and look what happened. Anything can happen.

No need to give up just yet to the mighty Max :p

LeClerc decided not to go for pole to have an extra set of new Softs for the race so maybe that will work out for them...
Don’t be silly. Ferrari will get the strategy wrong!
Glad they seem to be closer than expected, but wonder what extra they had should they have needed it.
Good result for Aston. Mercedes qualified better than I expected, but don’t think they will have race pace to match.
McLaren were shocking. Poor old Norris. I think he’s a great driver, but needs a better car.

I'd love for Fred to challenge for the win/wins this season.

Happy for Hulkenberg to be back in F1 as well... and a pretty good showing today too!

Can't tell the players without a score card...

Well if only the racing was separated by tenths of a second… wonder what Ferrari will mess up on? And I think Aston Martin and Haas just showed the rest of the field who’s boss this year. Will it be Mercedes V Aston this season? Let’s see what happens in the race.

Aston Martin have made the biggest leaps over the winter I think and it would be great if Alonso at 41 could be again fighting this season. The real test for a team like Aston is if they can keep up the development pace throughout the season. The likes of Red Bull and Mercedes have significantly better resources and have their development teams well attuned.

For me if Lewis and George aren’t fighting for the title, I’d take a good fight with Alonso for podiums. That’s of course if Fred is not suddenly picking off wins in the next few races. I’m determined to find something to get excited about and not resign to it being another dull 2022 lol.
