2024 Emoji Could Include Shaking Head, Brown Mushroom, Phoenix, Lime and More

This is a phoenix. Whatever TF Apple has there is anything but.

These aren't Apple's and have nothing to do with Apple. These are just some rando's interpretation of what the new emoji's will look like based on their description. Apple hasn't drawn theirs yet since these haven't officially been added by the body that is in charge of emoji yet. These are just up for consideration to be added in 2024 I believe the article said.

These have nothing to do with Apple. They didn't make them. These emoji don't exist yet, this is just someone's mockup of what they "might" look like. These aren't up for inclusion until 2024.

I can see myself using both occasionally, especially since once Apple makes them, their versions will probably be pretty decent. These mockups aren't so great.

The more you add, more difficult it becomes to find the ones you actually want to use, and more difficult it become to find out what an emoji actually means...

I disagree. What they should do is let you pin emojis that a user can choose to reserve.

Well I guess that kinda works too. There’s already a section for the “recently used” emojis, but pinning the most used ones sounds like a much better idea.

Still, that doesn’t really solve the issue of “too many emojis, most of them are useless”. Like out of all those 1400+ emojis that already exist, how many of them do you actually use every day ?
And let’s say you wanna pin a new emoji, it’ll still be hard to find in the first place, even when you use the search thingy, which doesn’t always give you the right one you’re looking for.

To be fair, Apple no longer seem to make a big song and dance about adding emojis, it's sites like this that serve up the hype whenever new ones are announced, as is their raison d'etre. As you say, after a while you just end up over-stimulated and shut down to it.

Emoji should be facial expressions and hand gestures and nothing else. If you are using a ****ing phoenix or mushrooms or mermaids instead of just using the words, you need to **** off.

All this planning, designwork, and marketing effort (and even feature articles) for artful, fancy emojis…. They must provide some value beyond the simple ascii emoticons…

Can anyone remind me why vague flat design and boring (and often less intuitive) monochromatic, buttonless, borderless interfaces are better than before?

Maybe they will be, but since they don't exist yet, we don't know. (But they probably won't be.)

By the time Apple is finished, there will be an emoji for everything, and we will be back to using hieroglyphics.:

There are more emoji than hieroglyphs already; many more, if you include variations.

And once again, the need for an assortment of sarcastic emojis is recklessly overlooked.

I’m so glad they’ve come up with new emoji. They obviously put tremendous thought into filling the soul-crushing gaps people have encountered when texting. The 4,000,000 emotes that already exist are so constraining.

Unicode (and emoji) is defined by the Unicode Consortium. It is not an Apple thing, and so Apple can take no credit for any emoji.
