Same mechanical issue delay here. I can order from Amazon and have delivered tomorrow with 5% cash back. Or I can walk into my Best Buy and pick up today. Thought ordering through Apple would be the safest bet.

I just spoke with UPS. They said yes there was a technical failure and my AirPods won’t be delivered until Monday morning. I’m in Colorado and they are still sitting in Louisville Kentucky. She said they will not be delivered today. So I guess there was no point in waking up at 5 o’clock in the morning to order them in the first couple minutes.
If I’m understanding it, the mechanical problem was in PA. Mine are now vaguely delayed (no mention of mechanical problem) in Louisville, so it seems the PA problem is backing them up there even though mine never went through PA (straight from Ontario, CA to Louisville).

It is what it is I guess. The Apple Watch I ordered made it out of the Louisville facility at 3:38 AM.
Monday isn’t a huge deal.

I was able to get an Ultra this morning for 10AM pickup, walked out at 10AM.

UPS also told me that Apple has the delivery as restricted and cannot be held at a Customer Center.
 
Same as everyone else with mechanical failure. Im more annoyed that it hasnt updated since 3 am, I am not worried about getting it today but I have to sign for it and I dont want to sit around all day waiting if its not going to show up. Wish they would update saying monday already

I’m in the Denver area and having the same experience. My order was completed 3 minutes after preorders opened, but this morning my delivery was delayed until Monday.

I guess I’ll have to find a way to survive 3 more days without them.
 
I'm also in the delayed in Louisville group. At first, I was irritated, and then I remembered they're just AirPods. This hasn't been a great year for Apple deliveries overall, though. I don't know that it's Apple's fault at all. I think it's UPS. They throw up that mechanical issue every time they are running behind. It's their standard excuse so they can avoid the terms of their contract. I'm sure staffing issues are also an issue. Oh well -- September Christmas comes on Monday! Maybe I'll throw a Bing Crosby "White Christmas" into the new AirPods to celebrate!

Mine showed up on the UPS app on Wednesday afternoon. They are out for delivery right now. I didn't see any explicit signature requirement, but on the UPS App, I authorized the "shipment release" for the package just in case I go for a run this afternoon and UPS tries to make the delivery while I'm out.

My delivery date also changed to tomorrow instead of Monday, although it’s still sitting in Louisville. I’m wondering if Apple was notified that a bunch of their hardware was delayed and requested Saturday delivery for them. Hoping for a departure scan or something soon!

Mine were just delivered.

FYI, the UPS guy said he's been delivering a lot of AirPods today in my area. He also said that he's heard about mechanical issues and a shortage of drivers in some parts of the country that is causing some of the deliveries to be delayed or pushed back.

I hope everyone gets their new toys as soon as possible!

Delayed by a day to Denver. Supposed to be today. UPS.

Methinks something happened either in PA because it hopped between 2 cities fairly fast… then got hung up in Louisville for a while. It’s odd because I thought next day saver was sent via air, I think this may have been transferred to ground.
