So I ordered my new 27" i5 on Sunday morning, and received the tracking information on Monday. The only status update to the package is shown as leaving Sacramento 3 days ago, but nothing since, with the delivery date being today. I reported this to FedEx and they basically said they have no idea where it is, but would "investigate" it and call me back. Well, that was first thing this morning and still no phone call. I would assume the likelihood of it showing up is slim to none.

Has anyone had an experience like this where your item actually did show up? Apple said they would not begin to investigate it until next Wednesday at the earliest.

Yes, the exact thing happened to me. Years ago. But it was not an iMac. Took a couple of extra days. Somehow it was lost, but they found it. It was something I ordered online. They did refund my shipping charge.
Good luck.

There's a long stretch through Utah where nothing is posted. My 27" i7 was the same way. All of a sudden it showed up in Chicago very early in the morning I was scheduled to receive it. Sure enough, at my door by 2PM that day. No usual "out for delivery" posting either. Relax and take care!

Mine shipped on the 28th and the last update until yesterday (the 4th) was the 29th with an estimated date of delivery on the 31st! I received it yesterday evening.

I hate FedEx...

Thanks for the reply, that makes me feel a little better about the lack of updates.

Don't worry, the same thing happened to me. I am in NJ and it did not change until it arrived somewhere in PA the day before my scheduled delivery date. :)

I like Fedex better then UPS. History has proved that if shipping is quoted at 10 days UPS will make sure that it takes at LEAST 10 days. Most of my fedex deliveries arrive early.

My refurb 27" has been sitting in the same location for nearly a week now (today is day 7). Ridiculous.

According to Fedex, they're waiting for Apple's broker to clear it through customs. Now I don't have hard numbers, my my guess would be that hundreds, if not thousands, of Apple products cross the US-Canada border each day. Suddenly there's a problem?

The tough part is that the city it's stuck in is just three hours away :(

With Canadian customs its all about luck. I experienced that a couple or so times, the longest was probably around 3-4 weeks. Its stuck there waiting for it to be cleared by customs. And I still got hit by a pretty high tax, amazing isn't it.

Well, my iMac showed up today. The funny thing is the tracking information still shows it in Sacramento. Even the FedEx customer service agents didn't have any additional information than what was on the website. Seems kinda like a broken system to me. Oh well, just glad it arrived. Thanks for everyone's responses.

Glad to hear that the story had a happy ending. :)

Glad it arrived, parcel tracking is a pretty crappy system with all delivery firms, it really doesn't offer much sympathy either way, when it's working it's still days behind where your parcel actually is, and when it doesn't work, it's useless anyway...

Oops, should have come back yesterday. Mine finally arrived mid-afternoon. So far looks to be in good shape. Plus, I had a bonus upgrade -- a 2TB drive instead of 1TB. I don't need all that space, but certainly can't complain!

Glad to hear that it arrived. When I ordered my 27in back in March, it actually was "lost". Fedex said that my shipping label came of my iMac and got stuck to another package. Since labels just don't jump off packages, my guess (and it was later confirmed) was that someone at Fedex wanted a brand new iMac. So Apple had to ship me another one.

We confirmed that it was stolen when I needed to get my lcd replaced and Apple realized that they had not switched over my Apple Care from the first iMac they shipped. That computer had already been using my Apple Care for repairs in Spokane Wa, the city where it was "lost".

Again, I'm glad to hear that yours came out alright.

That's a really F-ed up story. I wonder how often these things happen.

Well, not a happy ending after all. I hooked up the computer last night when I got home from work and in a matter of the first 45 minutes using it, it would not stay on longer than 15 minutes at a time. I would be working and the screen would just shut off and go completely black, 3 times in less than an hour. I called Apple Support and they had me do a couple of different resets, but the problem persisted. After it went black, I would just leave it alone and within 5-10 minutes the screen would come back on and it would be exactly where it was when it crashed. Almost seems like a overheating issue maybe.?.?.

Needless to say, this one is being returned and they are shipping me out another one on Monday.

That looks very strange to me.....why would it go from California to Tennessee to Washington?

That makes no sense......I'm interested in what FedEx has to say about this one...

alright i just called apple and Fedex say it's because apple uses some 'special' delivery service and I will be seeing odd routing... and she said I can't get anymore information about it other than what I see on the tracking page.

she gave me a number to call the technical shipping department on monday to get more details on it.

but..... this doesn't seem reassuring to me in ANY way, since none of you had experienced this kind of issue and end up getting your package.

Sounds to me like your iMac ended up on the wrong truck by accident and got sent on a longer road trip than necessary. I can't see why any shipping company would go WC-EC-WC-EC to ship a computer.....wouldn't make financial sense.....

Hopefully it shows up for you sooner than later.

Memphis is main fedex HUB for air shipping. Only ground shippings go through local stations along the route. But for air shipping, must of the time, the package go to Memphis. They have 3 other HUBS, but the one in Memphis is the main one.

i've came back with news about my imac. I called fedex on monday, turns out they are gather a bunch of shipments in washington to ship to Toronto. I've just received my imac today. unboxed it. everything seems fine, nearly perfect, with the exception of the slight bleed on the bottom right hand corner of the led. But i can live with it, not too noticeable.

thanks for those of you who were concerned about my little imac =D

Similar experience Here

I ordered my machine on the 7th of August. It shipped on the 10th of August. Delivery by 14th of August, according to Fedex. The latest tracking status has it at Fedex in Sacramento.

I called on Thursday the 12th. They said I would have it by Monday the 16th. Checked tracking today and nothing changed. Called Fedex. They told me I would get it tomorrow.

Not believing anything from Fedex at this point, I called Apple to verify, they put me on hold for 15 minutes. They said I could receive it on Wednesday the 18th, but if I didn't receive it by the 23rd, to call them back and apple would ship another one. Wow, not that I need the computer.......and that 2 weeks in transit would be acceptable......

I then called back to Apple to let them know I have decided to not accept shipment from FEDEX and that I wanted a return authorization on the Apple Care and the iPod(free with education purchase) and they said I would have to pay for the shipping back, which I have never had to do previously.

I get a different story everytime I speak to both Apple and Fedex, so I don't know who to believe. And who knows what the condition of the machine will be in, if it has been moved and handled for two weeks before getting to me.
