My iMac was shipped on the 12th and it still shows departing from Sacramento on the 13th. The next "scheduled" tracking update was supposed to be Sunday(15th), but still nothing. I'm not worried that I won't receive my iMac on time, but it would be nice to know where it is every 24 hours.

My tracking progress was exactly what you are describing. After departing from Sacramento, it never did update until it was on the Fed Ex truck out for delivery, which was 5 days later. Compared to UPS tracking, which I deal with daily in my job, the Fed Ex tracking system is a joke.

I ordered mine on Aug 10, and it arrived at the fedex location on Aug 11 in Sacramento. Last news there was was that it was in transit leaving from Reno, NV on the 11th. Haven't heard a thing since. It was scheduled to be delivered Aug. 14th but once that damn came, the expected delivery section disappeared and now I don't have an expected delivery date. Hahah and I have no idea.. because I am back home in San Jose, CA while the iMac is being delivered to Baltimore MD. No way am I carrying back a 27" iMac!

Peapody, that is exactly what has happened to me with the 14th delivery date going away and nothing else listed. Plus no one from Apple and Fedex know where it is.

I get a different story everytime I speak to both Apple and Fedex, so I don't know who to believe. And who knows what the condition of the machine will be in, if it has been moved and handled for two weeks before getting to me.

Most likely it was just sitting in the back of a truck waiting to be unloaded. Also, FedEx does not keep packages bouncing all over the belts in their hubs. Shipping delays are sometimes unavoidable and an irritation. Neither Apple nor the customer service rep at FedEx can tell you exactly where your package is, only the hub where it was last scanned or when they scanned it when they loaded it onto a truck, or scanned it on delivery.

Similar story here - Ordered on 8/6, shipped on 8/10 from Newark CA. Estimated delivery was 8/14 here in North Carolina. Well, the last update is that it arrived in Sacramento on 8/11 and there is no change since then (i.e. no indication that it actually left Sacramento). Saturday 8/14 came and went with no delivery. Today is 8/16. The "estimated delivery date" has now disappeared from the tracking page, since 8/14 is already past. Hoping it'll still show up by tomorrow 8/17 (which is the date Apple indicated in the email notification about the item shipping), but the lack of updates worries me - biggest worry is that, as rarely happens, the shipping label came off or is damaged. Fedex home delivery does not deliver on Sundays or Mondays, according to their website. I haven't called Fedex or anybody yet, as it's a little too early to sound the alarm. But their tracking system sure does suck.

Both UPS and Fedex tracking systems require a physical scan at some point in the shipping process. Once a package misses a scan then package tracking visibility is compromised. Originally all packages were physically scanned at each hub in the delivery chain now they link scans to entire trailers.

Both companies have high reliability in tracking accuracy but when your package disappears electronically Its very annoying.

ramallite, I am also in North Carolina with the exact same scenario as you. We must be on the same truck, if indeed it did ship from Sacramento. If it shipped from Sacramento, then it should have been scanned when it left. Additionally, I was told it had been shipped through Reno, NV and then left there, again, two more scans that were no documented. The system is obviously broken.

kbolte - I'm going with the same assumption that it just missed the departure scan from Sacramento and is just trekking over to this side of the continent un-scanned. There's a Fedex ground hub in Charlotte which I assume is the last hub destination before distribution for delivery, and I hope to see an update that it reached there tonight or tomorrow night for a mid-week delivery. Here's hoping !

Ramallite, i just checked and my machine just reached Charlotte at 3:30, so you indeed are correct. It is scheduled for arrival on the 17th, which is tomorrow.

No such luck here, but I'll check again later tonight. Good luck, I hope you get it on time. (this time!)

Oh never mind, just refreshed the screen and it indeed arrived in Charlotte at 3:54. ED tomorrow as well! Cool !!

Just an update:

I just checked the status of my iMac, and it says that it just arrived in Maryland today. Delivery date reappeared and it is now scheduled to come tomorrow. Looks like tomorrow will be a fun day for us! :D

No problem about the delay on this end anyway. I am typing from the airport of San Jose Mineta international about to board a plane back to Baltimore, set to arrive tonight at midnight. Even if I did get the computer on time, I wouldn't be able to sign for it or use it. Looks like things worked out favorably for me.

Same boat as all of you. Ordered my 21.5" i5, 8/9/10, it shipped out on 8/12 from Newark, CA, and so far it has don this:

8/12 Newark, CA
8/14 Arrive Sacramento, CA
8/14 Depart Sacramento, CA
8/14 in transit Reno, NV (this was actually posted on 8/16).

My delivery date is 8/19 here in Long Island, NY, so I still have a few days, but I'd like to know at least where it is. Weekend tracking for FedEx, or an other deliver Co leaves much to be desired...
