Now I could of posted it here, but the thread has gotten way too big and I thought this would stand out best for people who have placed their orders over the past few hours.

Long story short, here's what i've been given by one of the Apple reps over the past hour.

WOW.

They need to change their ships in November to "taking pre orders only"

Thanks for the info. We can take light into the fact that the end of the month is after around the 20th. One issue is the word expected. This could mean that they could be shipped earlier or later than the "end" of November.

Now now, they could change it to "Ships 2-4 weeks" and this would be consistent with past practice. Remember, it's less than 4 weeks now until the 30th.

Yep, and thats what my feeling is.

Thanks Samurai, for crushing my dreams of getting my 27" this week..but also for letting me know what apple is officially saying about this November issue. :p

One caveat, that is for the UK, which may be different than USA. Also, we know from the posts in this forum people are calling Apple literally every minute asking when their QC is going to ship. It seems reasonable for Apple to tell their reps just to say end of month and take some of the heat off. If they ship sooner, people will be happy.

NoooOOoOOOooO!

I hope that's only for the UK, but I have the feeling it is worldwide.

for such cutting edge product

i think patience is well worth it, let them do all debugging, the production hitch taken out, it will benefit everone.

imac the best internet surfing computer, light computing out there. i am waiting..................................

As I posted in another thread, two different resellers told me they weren't even able to place orders for the quads yet and were told not to expect to be able to do so until the end of the month or early December. (one would not even accept the order until they knew they could order it themselves)

for what it's worth, Macconnection told me second week in November.

Resellers knows nothing. Maybe some lady from Apple told them that when they announced new iMacs but they then faced some problems.

My guess is that quad-core iMacs needs OS X 10.6.2 and it's not ready for release yet

Yes, i5/i7 iMacs need CPU support added to the system but that isn't what is delaying them. First Nehalem Mac Pros had a custom version of OS X with nehalem support added. Apple doesn't need the whole 10.6.2 to ship new iMacs. They could ship them with 10.6.1 + i5/i7 support added. Maybe they just haven't arrived from China yet :) Maybe they have no problems whatsoever but the end of November was their planned date.

Samurai thanks for the updated information.

Have informed everyone from the prior thread
about this one.

Well, this is most unfortunate news. Bummer!

Samurai - Thank you for posting this. I hope they are wrong tho.

Apple Business model

While I too am eagerly awaiting my Quad Core, I won't get too disheartened by this news.

Mac's motto as far as business decisions has always been under promise and over deliver. If you look at their earnings, they always estimate less than what they actually make, creating good will among the investors.

I see this announcement in a similar vein. If customer service tells everyone to expect the machines at the end of November, and then they start shipping on the 9th, everyone will be excited. :D

However, if they had told us we were shipping in the first week of November and there were problems, there would be endless griping.

I'm going to sit tight and let the anticipation build. Aloha!

Good News, when I told a co-worker about this he did some research and sent me this shot that he found.

If the first post of this thread is true, why does it say to EMEA all countries and then advise them to check the uk store ?

Should it not advise apple staff to inform customers to check the online order status from which online store they ordered from?
