mine showed up this afternoon..... I returned it as I want to wait until the end of the month like everyone else....

I updated my order today to include the Canon Printer. Interestingly enough the printer will be here tomorrow. In the perfect world the same would be true with regards to my i7.

Got a Shipping Notice OCT 31 from Apple with FED Ex tracking. Package originated in China, traveled thru HK to Anchorage AK then into Memphis. So excited. Next day it was "on truck for delivery". Package showed up around 10:30am Nov 2.

I'm an idiot... it was only the new remote... I guess I'll practice 'til the i7 shows up.

What about the C2D with the ATI 4850. Will this one also be shipped end November?

If you try to order a C2D with 4850 it immediately goes to November

Who would have thunk it, AMD/ATI cannot supply a sufficient number of obsolete chips to a small player like Apple?

1+

i think the thing is because they don't have the drivers for the grafic cards and thats pushing it to november. They don't put a shiping date because they don't exactly know when they are going to finish the drivers. The thing is that these big companies like ATI and Apple normaly have a contract with supply dates and if they don't execute them correctly they get to pay for losses.

sorry for my english, it's not my native language

I really think they pushed them back to co-incide with new software launches at the end of November-beginning of December...Final Cut Express 5 anyone? :)

faster or faster

which is faster? wait and go to apple store for the quad when they get it OR order online and wait for direct shipping. can you tell i'm nuts about it?

i guess i'm wondering if the brick and mortar stores get the new models before the online orderers. any experiences out there? thanks!!

I'm hedging on the retail store, but I have no evidence either way.

A salesperson at the Atlanta Lenox Square Apple Store said they would probably get the i5 model a week after they started online shipping.

The 4850 has been a BTO option for months going back to early 2009 24" models so the drivers have been around for months.

The consensus is that the 4850 is the desktop model, not the mobile version found in the older imac. Also AMD/Ati is having supply issues with the new 5xxx cards. So maybe they are having a system wide supply issue. Since they would be the OEM supplier of all the cards to apple.

Its a 4850 supply issue. That is why, they are saying shipping November instead of 2-4weeks.

What I am hoping is that when the 27inch i5/i7 ship, apple will have a cto option on the 21.5 inch for the 4850.

Posters on other threads are reporting their credit cards were charged in full today for QC's they ordered 10+ days ago . . .

Online or b&m?

I asked a brick & mortar rep that exact question last weekend, and he/she said that online would probably be quicker; wasn't sure though. /2cents
