Additionally, just spoke to Manchester Arndale store and *some* Arndale entrances will be open from 7am, specifically he mentioned the one opposite the Big Wheel will be open at that time.

Spoke to the Trafford Centre store too and they dont know when it will be open, they advised me to contact the Trafford Centre itself.

I heard that UK stores will have iPads in such plentiful supply that if you turn up later in the afternoon they will be selling them at a substantial discount.

Honest.

:p

Any news on the other stores? Currys, PC World etc? I'm oscillating between getting to the Regent Street store at around 5 in the morning and hoping the line isn't too long and going to a more remote Currys, where there will be a much much smaller queue but smaller stock. Akh, why didn't I preorder when I had the chance!

Suggest you ring around the DSG stores in your area.

I don't think the opening time is relevant. Go with a sleeping back the night before IF you're serious about getting one on launch day.

Shut it, I hope you get there after I do :D Either that or I hope you're after a different model :p

Haha the fight has begun! I am actually just going for the 16gb wifi, but lets be honest, if they've sold out I'll go for whatever is left! I'm going to head down early, grab a Starbucks and hope for the best...

I think it all depends on where you are, I honestly can't see there being an enormous line at the Cardiff store (famous last words). What were the queues like for the 3GS release?

I got my 3GS on launch day last year and was expecting loads of people. Turned up at 7am and there where 6 other people...

Just hope that its the same this time but cannot see that happening

The car park for St David's 2 is 24/7, but I'm not sure you can get access to the shopping centre until opening hours. I'm going to head down at around 5am'ish i think, and hope for the best.

I contacted St David's 2 to find out when I can get access to the centre, but they've not replied.

I'm after a 64Gig 3G, but I'm hoping common sense will kick in and I'll change my mind to a 16Gig 3G instead

Someone on one of the other threads said people started to q outside regent street store last night - no idea how much validity to give it though.

Huh... I work quite close, I'll walk by on my lunch break and see if it's true. Like someone said above, the 3GS launch was easy: just walked into a Carphone Warehouse at 7. No queue, nothing. Extremely doubtful it will be anywhere near that easy on Friday though. The way to go has to be through shops other than the Apple store... I called the Tottenham Court Road Dixon's and they could not confirm they would have the iPad nor that they'd open earlier than usual.

I think the are only available from Apple Stores, maybe wrong

I've got a massive Currys and Pc world near me (staples corner) but i want the nice white apple stingy bag and not some crappy pc world bag :p

See you at Regent Street 6am. I hear the queues have started there already

Yeah, so far there hasn't been any official word to the contrary, but the Times claims to have seen an internal memo that claims Dixon's/PC World will have it on launch day plus, according to this http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2010/05/25/dixons_apple_exclusive/ a DSGi spokesman said "We can confirm that the information in The Times article is correct and Apple will be announcing their distribution plans in the next few days." I guess we'll find out soon enough.

nwlondonlad: yeah, it could be worth checking out to see how long the queue is by Thursday night. I have no problem waiting in line for 4-5 hours, but I really don't see myself doing an all-nighter.

Yeah I'm not doing an all nighter as ive got got half day at work from 12.30pm to 4.30pm on the 28th.

I'll pop by Regent street on my way from work on Thr around 6pm and see what the line is like, will post back on here.

Ironically as i'm off on holiday over the BH weekend, and not leaving until friday PM, so i could do an all-nighter. However both local stores are in big shopping centres that wont open until morning anyway, so its pointless to turn up really early, because even then there are mutliple entrances.

I know what you mean. In London 2 out of the 3 Apple shops are in shopping shopping centres. Westfield and Brent Cross.

Having said that Brent Cross shopping centre also has a Currys/Dixons so you have a greater chance of getting one should DGSI decide to sell em on launch day.
