Dual channel isn't a factor on the MB Pro C2D according to the design notes from Apple. They even removed the note about installing equal sized modules. But, the MacBook still "prefers" equal modules. The difference most likely will be lost in the noise when going to 3GB as you will have fewer pageouts.

Hi all,

gr8tfly, where did you get this info, are the design notes around? Only reason I ask is that I am going to be grabbing a MB Pro C2D and am debating whether to get 2 1 gig matching modules from Crucial (and remove the Apple installed module) or get 1 gig from Crucial and just add it to the Apple installed module.

I still see the note from Apple regarding this, that's why I'm confused. Here is the note:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303553

Thanks.

You still get the dual channel effect if you install 2 matching modules in a MBP, however, it's not as big of an issue with the MBP as it is with the MB, because the MB shares the system RAM with the GMA 950.

Anyone here actually have 3gb installed?
if so what is startup time like?

Can the macbook access a limit of 3.5 gb?
so whats startup time like?
The max limit for the current model is something like 3.3gb?
And santa rosa will up the limit to 4gb?

The macbook and macbook pro use the same type of ram?
