That is true, it doesn't look that way on my work PC, but it's still kinda neato in a newbie sorta way.

agree, which is why im gonna jailbreak when it comes available for 3.0, im not paying 500 for one feature
Cuz Apple's all about releasing obviously inferior implementations of their software on older hardware.
The quality on jailbroken video is better than the video on most flip phones. Ive seen several useful flip phone videos on various news channels e.g Univerity of Virginia shootings. Iphone 3g video would be usable.
Wont' make any difference. The software will attempt to do something the hardware doesn't support and will then the whole OS will crash. The only way to do it would be to write your own very low level firmware that dynamically translated as required. This would be very very difficult, probably would not work and would slow the whole phone down.
For 500 bucks, you could buy a real video camera with video quality that beats any phone out there.

There is no need to JB to get video recording on the 3G. There are loads of video recording apps on the App Store. Some free and some not. I use Qik myself.

Does the touch 2G have any camera? Or GPS? Or magnetic compass? I don't think so, so what's the point?

If you were somehow able to get it to run on another iPhone you'd get Video recording with MMS and VoiceControl.
But this is not possible so it's moot.

I think the only thing is voice control, but I've used it once in 8 months..
