So when I see that the operating system is updated I look for better battery life, multi-tasking capability, memory management, etc.

When it becomes available, you should Jailbreak. That will give you the multitaking you want.

If you use your phone a bunch and want better battery life just get an external battery, or a battery case like the Mophie.

I'm not at ALL a bb fan (have one for work and hate it), but to give the devil its due, it does have much better battery life than my 3gs. Part of that is because it has much slower hardware and can't play complex games, but yeah, it has better battery life even ignoring those points.
Not to defy your point, but will that apply to the other BlackBerry devices as well? I understand that there are many different kinds of BlackBerry devices with different hardware configurations. :)

Give us back 2.1 or even 1.1.4 performance for 2G iPhone users :(
2G iPhone has been ridiculously slow and not enough ram since 3.0

Is that their strategy to push 2G users to switch?

You can't expect Apple to support the 2g forever. It is in their best interest to support their latest hardware as well as they can. Why hold back amazing new things for the 3GS to appease the 2G owners? Just sell your 2G for 160 bucks or so, the upgrade to a 200 dollar 3GS. It is worth it.
