3 fingers swipe navigation for firefox?

i wrote an applescript and assign command+[ to it , then i try to invoke the applescript using multicluth also cannot...any suggestions? thanks!

I use multiclutch in my firefox 2.0, i read that it's not possible, the first time that i tried, doesn't work, i try firefox 3.0 but some of my extension don't work and i come back to firefox 2.0, and what surprise i can use swipe to change tab, and i use zoom in to close tabs.

Better yet, get an iPhone-like experience with zooming by using firefox. Using multiclutch, assign zoom in to*Command + =, and zoom out Command + -.

Firefox like opera now zooms the whole page, graphics and all, whilst maintaining the layout. I still prefer Safari though now, I want apple to add this feature. Downloading Omniweb now to see if it works with that.

BTW... i discovered a new shortcut today. You know HIDE, as in Command + H? I use it all the time instead of minimise, but, OPTION CLICK the desktop does the same thing! Option click hides the foreground app! massive time saver for me now.

the only reason I use Safari right now is the 'swipe'. Though it is growing on me, the features I'm seeing in FF3b are very Safari-esque and if they can add in the multitouch capabilities of the Macs, I'd probably go back to FF once 3 is out of beta.

And two fingered scrolling is just like hitting the scroll arrow. It felt a little weird at first, but now I find myself trying to do two fingered scrolling on my PC at work, and being irritated when it doesn't work. The swipe isn't quite as nice as the two fingered scroll, but it grows on you quickly. Ten years from now you or I may not use multitouch much(and all the new things they do with it by then), but for everyone under 20 not having it would be like having a PC without a mouse.

Can you or someone else list the key command you have set up? Right now I have Cmnd - [ associated with left swipe and Cmnd - ] with right and I cannot get these to work in FF3b4. Thanks.

And you have these commands tied to the Firefox app, not Global, right?

Correct, they are tied to FF not global. I have gone back and noticed that when I close system prefs and reopen, all of the FF gesture commands are gone. I Have deleted MultiClutch and am going to reinstall and see if there is a resolution.

On a related point, does anyone have any unique commands that they have set up with multi touch gestures that they think are worth sharing?

Unfortunately after reinstalling this application, the same problem exists. Any gesture command I set up just disappears after I close system prefs. Anyone have an idea on how to proceed?

I installed MultiClutch after reading one of these threads, it took me awhile to get it working right.

dbl-click, it asks to install a bunch of stuff requiring your login the first time. Once it comes up, hit + on the app side, add firefox.app to it. In there, I have 6 gestures set up:
Swipe Left : cmd + left arrow
Swipe Right: cmd + right arrow
Zoom In : cmd + =
Zoom Out: cmd + -
Rotate Left : shift + opt + tab
Rotate Right : opt + tab

Now close pref pane, and start firefox. You have to completely quit it and start again if it was running before; not just close windows, but cmd-Q it. The gestures should work, mine do in FF3b4, and most of my plugins do too. (FF3b5 doesn't seem to have plugins updated for it yet)

One odd thing I noticed: it doesn't do the command until after the gesture is finished... this is most notable with the rotate and zoom, you have to put fingers down, move them, then pick them up, then the assigned action occurs. This is different from how it acts when native to the app; I've seen the event messages passed to an app when you gesture, though, and it knows when you've finished, I'm guessing MultiClutch uses that to know when to send the keystroke.

Also, and this is generic to the multi-touch in general... it's very sensitive to when you put fingers down: multi-finger gestures require all fingers hit the pad at the same time, can be touchy with three for the swipe gesture.

Reinstall, making sure to delete any traces of MC.

In Firefox (using 3b5) I've set up rotate left/right to move between open tabs, which I think seems very natural. I've set the zoom in/out and out/in gestures to close and open tabs respectively, which is useful for me since I usually have many tabs open

I'm trying to set "swipe down" to "close current tab" in firefox, but whenever i try inputting the shortcut command in the multiclutch preference pane window (command+w), it actually closes the multiclutch window!

Any workarounds?

Double click on the key assignment to make it active before inputting the command sequence and it should work just fine.

In the screenshot above you can see I have cmd-w bound to zoom in/zoom out without any problem.

I am a new Macbook Pro user (my 1st mac ever), and I VERY quickly became dependent on all the gestures from two finger scroll, to three finger swipe, and one of my favorite in a browser, the pinch to zoom in/out.

These gestures have become second nature to me now. I don't need to "think" before I do them, I just do them, like a muscle memory. I surf the web without the need to touch my keyboard (unless I need to type in a search of course). So, when I try to do what is now natural to me and it doesn't work(like the guy at with the PC at work), it is irritating. I then have to remember what the correct keyboard combination is to do the same thing.

Good think my keys light up, since I surf a lot in bed with the light out or I would REALLY be lost using Firefox.

Anyhow, I mostly use Safari because of the lack of support for the new gestures.

I would switch to Firefox if they would support it though. I really like Firefox.

i agree, there's something sluggish about FF3b right now. hopefully it will be addressed in the final.

though i would like to add that all of my google apps are faster in FF3b than in Safari. I heard the FF team put a lot of effort into making the google apps play nice with FF3
