Multiclutch & Firefox v3.0.4 ...

Which version of Firefox are you using?

Here is why I ask: Multiclutch works for some applications for me, but not with Firefox.

Details:
Mac OS X 10.5.5
2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo 2
Aluminum case MacBook (bought late Nov. 2008)
Firefox v3.0.4
MultiClutch v1.0

When I click the plus button in the MultiClutch window too add the Firefox 3.0.4 app, that works just fine. When I click the other plus (to the right) to add gesture-hotkey combos, that also works just fine. I set them up just how I like, then I close the window. Nothing works in Firefox and here is why: when I go back into Multiclutch, the list of gesture-hotkey combos for Firefox 3.0.4 is empty. Get this: if I add a gesture-hotkoy combo to Firefox then click on 'Global' and click right back to Firefox, the new Firefox gesture-hotkey combo already has disappeared! This does not happen for other applications ... even for 'carbon' apps! What gives!?

Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

-Adam

p.s. -- two comments...
(1) MultiClutch is awesome. Kudos to the creator.
(2) Too bad gestures don't work natively (is this the right word?) as they do in other Apple Apps, instead they only do the hotkey action after the fingers are lifted. The result is a slow & choppy feel ... bummer.

Reinstall,
making sure to delete any traces of MC.
Check (delete any references to MC)
~/Library/PreferencePanes/
~/Library/Preferences/com.wonderboots.MultiClutchBindings.plist (this
is where your bindings are stored btw. You should open this up and see
if your bindings have been saved - if not, it would explain why they
don't "stick")
/Library/PreferencePanes/
/Library/InputManagers/
If you previously did an install for a single user, try doing it
global, and vice versa.

I had the problem with the firefox gestures disappearing in multiclutch, so I followed the above instructions. I tried to "install for all users" instead of "just this user" but I get the following error:
'The "MultiClutch" preferences pane could not be installed because an error occured.'
This is the same error I got when I tried to install for all users when I first downloaded the program.

Try this

Here is a new version of firefox called minefield, it is still in the testing phase so it is a bit buggy but it has the new gestures built into it.

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/firefox-3.2a1pre.en-US.mac.dmg

just right click and save.

I have been using it for some time, although a bit buggy works fine most of the time, the best part is that you can keep both the versions on the system and dont have to import/export bookmarks or history everything gets sorted automatically.

Regards

Omar ;)
