so i have a 2016 MBP with 4 Thunderbolt ports. recently the built in display broke and ive been using an external monitor in replace of the broken one. its mirrored. at my work station i have two external monitors i used with my work laptop for a total of three monitors. now i want to use my personal MBP but i cant get all of them to work. i can only get two displays but my laptop thinks there are three bc the broken built in display is being counted. i have seen other people have up to 4 monitors at once which is technically what i want. i have a dock that currently has an hdmi cable in it and one more display in a thunderbolt plug. if i try to add one more with a USB or a Thunderbolt it wont work. i see people using these $300 docks and that works but i dont want to buy one if there is another option.
