I have a 3 pay as you go phone just to use as a Skype device (it gives me free Skype for life) and the coverage has been excellent in London. I get a good quality connection.

Good deal - no mention if any Wifi hotspots are included, unfortunately.

I notice it would be on a rolling contract, meaning you'd have to call them to cancel.

I've experienced their customer service when transferring my 3 PAYG sim to O2 (for my iPhone). Getting them off the phone was like trying to shake **** off a stick.

Really? You found it that easy? Usually it's more difficult than that :D lol

If you want to compare 3G coverage, Ofcom produced a review of the coverage of all the UK operators last year. You can get the pdf review from the Ofcom site at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/media/features/msaone just click on the 3G coverage maps link. 3 is H3G in the report. It may have changed a bit but possibly still gives a representative view.

3 does look good. I'm thinking of Orange in the short term as I'm in the lake district for 2 weeks in June and Orange looks slighty better where I'll be based but is still very patchy. I may try 3 the month after. It's a shame 3 don't have a wifi capability. It's great that we are able to change monthly and compare the service without a price penalty.

The pricing is much more what I was hoping for, so good on Three. I just wish o2 offered the same, as their on-iPad activation is much easier to deal with.

I've got a mSIM ordered from o2, Orange and 3 now.

You can do this with Vodafone as well now, for what it's worth.

Snap! I've also got a Vodafone MicroSim arriving with the order itself. Life is about choice! ;)

Yeah, my choice was to avoid Vodafone like the plague ;)

Every network has it's detractors, usually for good reasons particular to that person's circumstances or experience.

However, as PabloPaulo says above, it's great that we can try different networks on a month to month basis without incurring a financial penalty. That's a great deal better than being stuck with one provider for 18 months!

How long have you been using it though?

Some networks (eg O2) are getting wise to their sims being used in the 'wrong' device and cut you off.

2 weeks and 4 days without a hitch and tbh for 20 odd quid if they do block it it's not exactly a fortune. I also have an iPhone o2 payg chip that is ready to rock and roll that works fine.

I used one of those in a Mi-Fi. Worked brilliantly until O2 cut it off a couple of weeks later.

I've had one in my nc10 for 11 months used every day till just over two weeks ago without a hitch! I think it's more how you use it as to wether they shut you off or not.

Yes, perhaps I shouldn't have streamed movies 24/7! :D

Only kidding, but alarm bells may have rung when I was showing off the device at work and had 5 colleagues hooked up simultaneously!

I believe they send you a warning text, but you won't receive that on a Mi-Fi or iPad.
