Without a discount (although buying that many im pretty sure they must have got *some* discount) and at normal retail price that comes to like $4,200,000

Jesus, how gutted will they be if it doesn't 'boost student performance'

I'd have PAID to be involved in that! *dribbles*
I used to Setup Mac stuff when I was in HS, believe me, it is very boring (and I was using All-in-One G3's). But next time I get a Mac you can pay me to set it up ;) .

I wish my school had those. We have somewhere in the range of 500 dell desktops... with crt's. And now the school put in such a strong firewall that basically all you can do online is research. Plus, the network is really heavely encrypted.

anyone know the doa ratio?

hahahahahahahaha I was thinking the exact same thing, considering Apple's inability to get a sole, single, lonesome, faultless PowerBook to me. :p

What a dull job though.

P.S. How haphazardly are those boxes stacked!!!   :p

I put that on digg because I've never seen that many iBooks in my life, and I want an intel iBook so badly! I didn't think I would get 1600 diggs for it though! :p

omg. thats...just.... well its surprising. and a lot of iBooks!

i actually would hate to be the IT guy having to make sure everything was up and running smoothly all the time, but i would hate that for Windows and PCs too... i too wonder what the DOA ratio is. especially on an order of this size.

My school just got about 60 Dell Optiplex GX620's, the AIO kind. Pretty cool for Windows boxes, the screens are adjustable on the Y and Z axis. They replaced the AIO iMac G3's (slotload) which ran OS9.2. IMO, im kinda pissed since they had a great opportunity to move to newer Macs with OS X but appearantly the attendance software that we use is not avaliable for OS X. Another thing that pisses me off is their policy for personal systems. We have 5 indvidual AirPort locations, but students and teachers cannot bring their own computers and use the signal.

What's with all the American flags? Is the geography knowledge of the average American so poor that they actually need a reminder as to where they are at the moment?

omg, I would have not thrown away all those boxes but instead cut up the boxes and make an iBook collage for the libaray.

I would have not thrown away all those boxes but instead sold them on eBay - have you seen how much just the boxes go for!!

plus i would have bagged an iBook, or two...;)

Because we are proud of our country, and please explain what is wrong with displaying the flag.

Let me guess, it might "offend" someone. On the other hand they should display the flags before the liberals have them removed from school. Oh wait, they have already started.

not EVERYONE is proud of 'our' country.
I dont think its nessacery to display the american flag EVERYWHERE. I mean, yeah maybe near the mexican or canadain borders to see your leaving america, but c'mon you dont need to see it everywhere you go, you know your still in america without a stupid flag reminding you.

geez 3,000 is a lot.....

my school has old imacs in every classroom, every teacher has an ibook or powerbook. the library has 2 labs full of imacs, we have 2 resource centers with about 40 g5 iMacs each, and a computer lab with about 5 seperate class rooms with around 30 iMacs each. its totally sick:D :D :D but we have 4,000 students and 1,500 faculty. 2nd best in the state

I'd shoot myself if I had to take care of 3000 windows pc's, let alone 3000 computers.
