Netburst (and, by extension, the Pentium 4) is a dead-end. Apple will not have two Pentium 4s in their machines. Ever.

And P4s don't support multiprocessing. It'd have to be a Xeon. Which is expensive. And will be thoroughly slaughtered by Conroe.

And the socket used for the processor really has nothing to do with the speed.

And PCI-express has nothing to do with "double the peripherals".

And Intel won't have a 1200MHz bus ever. 1033 (somewhere around there) or 1333 buses are only coming with the introduction of Conroe.

So, to sum up, this is about the biggest load of ******** I've ever seen in my life. Try doing research before you sling **** into the fan.

My neighbour's sister's husband's uncle's friend's postlady's husband is a janitor at intel and apparently they will be using 4x revamped G3+Altivec chips in the 30AM.

My other neighbour's son's schoolmate's teacher's mistresse's husband is a janitor at Lockheed who are making the enclosure. It will be made of carbon-kevlar to withstand both the extreme temperatures and the powerful airflow generated by the 25 silent fans that cool it.

From unconfirmed sources (I received an anonymous phone call from a guy claiming to work for Western Digital), no drives are said to be available on the 30AM to save space and to fit all this into a .25" deep enclosure (made possible by the use of carbon-kevlar that prevents it from warping). Operation of the 30AM requires a subscription to .Mac to store files, applications and personal data. Family subscription packages to .Mac are available.

There are skeptics out there that will undoubtably ask why should you believe me when i post this...

1.) just because i am a newbie doesnt mean my information isn't any less valid
2.) just because i am a newbie is doesnt mean that i am not who i say i am
3.) just because i have made no posts and this will be my ONLY one, that doesnt mean my information is any less valid...
4.) just because my typing style isnt umm.. perfect it doesnt mean my information is any less valid...
It doesn't mean anything about your information, it just means we won't believe you.

it will be 3.96 Ghz !!!!!!!!!!!!!! on a APPL100 socket that will go to a APPL100XSX motherboard
This is the most relevant thing I found with Google for APPL100. APPL100XSX comes up with nothing.
Apart from that it is bundeled with 512mb GPU and a slightly more packaged exterior and comes free with an extra 2gb DDR2 ECC ram
512MB card I can believe, but ECC RAM? I thought they were trying to blow the PC world away, not make the world's fastest server. ECC RAM is much slower than non-ECC RAM.

My verdict: You, sir (madam?), are full of ****.

this will be faster than the 975 as will allow for 16GB of ram running a faster DDR2

Pentium 4 processors can address a maximum of 4GB of ram. Case closed.

Even though this is just a fake (obviously), Steve might surprise us with a really cool looking mac to celebrate the 30th anniversary, who knows.

I don't think Steve was at Apple when they made the TAM. Since he suffers from NIBM Syndrome (Not Invented By Me), I doubt he'll follow it up at all (especially not with a P4, get real). Most likely he just wants us to buy the Intel iMac for the anniversary...

Wow doode, totally tubular info. Neato keano radicalities. The intranutt is fun. You should try myspace, I bet you'd have like 1600 friends. That's how you really measure coolness.

More like the TAM suffered from NIBJ Syndrome (Not Invented By Jobs). It was horrible and overpriced. I hope they don't do a third anniversary mac, at least not in the same sense. I'd rather have a HMM (home media mac) or how bout just an imac that is just a floating screen. Anti-grav, and full movability of the screen. Sounds good to me.

Crampy, here's one way you can establish a bit of validity here.

Shoot me an e-mail (clayj@clayj.com) from your work address. If I like what I see, I'll confirm for everyone else that you work for who you SAY you work for. I won't reveal your identity to anyone else, so you don't have to worry about your identity being leaked and getting in trouble.

If you worked at Intel and knew about microprocessor engineering, I'm sure you'd be able to type pretty well.

Also, why would they post using some random screenname on MacRumors?
If you really were a sneak and doing this from Intel, I'm sure, they, as the people who know OS X and their microprocessors up and down, could figure out who you are.

Have fun. :D

MODERATORS: Can we have a mod figure out from where crampy is typing?

Sorry, I call bullsh*t. I used to work in Intel's motherboard division (engineering level tech support,) and still have contacts in both the motherboard and processor divisions. That is the biggest bunch of bull I have ever seen.

1. Intel wouldn't design a 'new' socket for Apple. Period.

2. There is already a Pentium Extreme Edition on a 65nm process at 3.46 GHz that has 2 MB L2 cache per processor, operating on a 1066MHz bus. Why downgrade to a 900MHz bus? Why downgrade even the 'high end' processor to a 90nm process? Hardware review sites have seen no problem getting this new processor above 4 GHz, and Intel has tacitly allowed 'high end OEMs' like Alienware to overclock, so why wouldn't Apple just go for broke and go for over 4 GHz? With the watercooling system from the G5, it would be easy to design a system to exceed 4 GHz. (Oh, and this disregards the fact that you can't even get the name of the current high end processor right.)

3. As mentioned, the Pentium 4 / Pentium-D / Pentium Extreme Edition does not support dual processors (dual-socket.) This would take a Xeon. Although there is no underlying technical reason why they can't, it is disabled in hardware, and Intel doesn't produce special processors for one OEM. They may release them to one OEM before any others, but Intel won't release a dual-socket P4.

3. By all the info MY contacts have, Apple won't use Pentium 4s. At all. Apple is avoiding NetBurst like the plague, because it is a power hog. A dual Pentium EE with a high end video system would require a 500W power supply, at least. Apple is going low power, not high power.

4. 256 MB video cards aren't top of the line. Even the Power Mac G5 offers a 512MB video card option. And ATI just released the X1900. But, since you claim to be an Intel guy, not an Apple guy, I'll forgive this one.

Bullsh*t. Plain and simple.
