My desk space is limited so I want to minimize any 'box', hub or switch
I'm using some no name alien tape to hold extra hubs and card readers behind my monitors. This stuff is amazing. And it keeps my desk clean looking.

The desk rear is closed by a panel so to attach an arm I must make an hole and some other reasons

I want only a monitor to use with text editors, as developer I need big screen on text clear and visible (eg not too small)

EDIT : Obviously I need a way to switch quickly between two macs

One of the reasons I love being able to use page view.

Maybe this?

It seems to only work with YCbCr though.

I have the previous version of this monitor. It does work very nicely with my M1 Air and can charge & power it though the usb-c cable. Since the latest update of Monterey to 12.01, it uses RGB instead of YCbCr.

I haven't installed the Dell display manager on my Mac, so have to switch it manually to my other machines. Those both run Linux, so I created command shortcuts to switch between inputs. I suspect that this wouldn't be possible on Mac though.

Overall, it's a good monitor and I'm very happy with it, especially as my employer paid for it, for home working. Which, to be fair, is about 99% of it's use.

Godspeed with that monitor. It is a Wide QHD monitor (so no HiDPI fonts and it will look just like plain QHD monitor regarding fonts!!!), only sRGB colors (I'd rather take DCI-P3 color monitors like what Apple uses) and YPbPr. Well the last issue is possible to solve with simple plist editing for pretty much any monitor. Anyway from my point of view that kind of monitor is world of pain with modern MacOS.

I know many peoples are happy without HiDPI fonts, so I'd say anyone who has not seen the difference between those two by themselves should try it before choosing between those two in case there is some reason why not go straight to 4k or above monitor. For me I tried everything for couple of months but fonts just looked terrible on QHD monitor and since I got 4k monitor I could not been happier.

BTW, BenQ has many factory calibrated color 4k monitors with KVM-switch both sRGB and DCI-P3 models

It's not my favorite monitor but thought it would fit the OP's need. I'm planning to buy a LG 27UP850 which has 95% DCI-P3, very good color accuracy and resolution scaling similar to Mac and 96W power charger.

Good to know, I can't use a so big screen but I hope this improvements are available on other Dell monitors, too

This is crucial for me, DDM seems a very great solution but I suspect the support for mac isn't so complete as the Windows version

If only the 27UP850 could be used with a desktop stand....
The 96W power charger is a killer feature, I'm planning to replace my 2017 MBP with the new 16" so 60W is no longer enough

I think list does not actually include all of them because even PD3200U has KVM switch (but it is only sRGB).
Ok, I read about BenQ monitors and the PD3220U model is almost perfect for me, power delivery (85W!!) should work via Thunderbolt3 and this it a plus.

Based on your experience is this a valid option for M1? (And Intel MBP)
This night I tried to move my desk to install the 32UN880-B but too much work and too little space

I haven't got personal experience with that but I was seriously considering this model and from what I have read, it should be very good and suitable for Mac especially. But it was out of stock and there was very long delivery time around here when I was looking for a new monitor and price was over 2x what 32UN880-B was and there is really not much difference in panel specs (both DCI-P3). I'd say 32UN880-B is just huge value.

Do you actually have 32UN880-B there? I guess it would be easiest to install by drilling one hole in the table to avoid need for space between walls when using clamp install but I understood drilling a hole is out of the question in your case.
One more wild idea I have in case you are really interested in getting LG, it supports VESA mount, so maybe just get a VESA stand and throw away included arm?? There is also some version with normal stand of this monitor but I don't think it was equal 100%, it was missing USB-C and maybe something else too, I cannot remember exactly.

Good point, the monitor isn't available on Amazon (in my country) and on BenQ site there is no delivery time
About comparison with 32UN880-B I know it wins but again it can't be mounted on my desk

I'm sorry, my bad English makes my sentence confused
I don't have the 32UN880-B, I studied how to mount it without finding a good way, drilling one hole can damage the desk so the 32UN880-B is definitely out of discussion.
I'm considering to buy another desk but honestly I need a monitor not another desk ?

What about 32UN880-B + something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/vesa-stand/s?k=vesa+stand

What kind of desk it is exactly (glass I presume)?
I realize if it is some valuable furniture, it is obvious drilling holes might be out of the question. :)

No, wood but it is a ancient table used as desk

Is it "ancient" as valuable inherited piece of antique or similar with high sentimental value and need to keep as original as possible? I totally understand then and I would not destroy such item myself either. :)
I mean if it is not, then all you need is a power drill and 10mm drill bit for wood. :)

Anyway, getting additional adjustable VESA-table stand solve this problem easier and without need to drill anything (monitor supports those too).

Both

Now the dilemma is Dell U3219Q or Lg PD3220U, the 32UN880-B is not possible choice

Roll the dice, both are likely good but IMHO BenQ PD3220U is probably more professional one and pricier too. If I recall correctly some reviews mentioned Dell model does not have flicker free panel, but I'm not 100% certain about BenQ either. Also not sure if Dell has precalibrated DCI-P3 mode (U2720Q did not have), BenQ should have that like 32UN880-B seems to besides gamma. Anyway those are likely so close the same in practice as 32UN880-B and I'd personally take rather 2x of these than one of these about the same price.

Hi

I've just installed the Dell P3421W with a desktop PC on the HDMI port and either my 2017 MBP (with macOS Monterey) or my new Thinkpad T14 on the USB-C port.

Both laptops seem to charge ok and the 4K native video also works ok and looks good for what I need.

The built-in Dell KVM has my Corsair keyboard and SteelSeries mouse on the inputs. Switching the video input also switches the input devices but although there are no issues with the T14 (and the same for my desktop PC), there's an issue with the MBP where the keyboard and mouse become unusable immediately or soon after changing to them.

The lights stay lit on the keyboard but they do off on the mouse.

I attempted to install the Dell DDM on the MBP but it's probably not supported anyway. However, it shouldn't be needed to switch USB inputs as I've configured the monitor to do this.

Please does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this ?

Thanks

I'm using the M32U 32" 4K 144Hz + Audio with KVM+ switching built-in. Currently the best 4K on the market in 2021.

I use my Dell U3219Q with both my desktop and laptop. Desktop is connected via DP and upstream USB cable, and my MacBook Pro is connected via USB-C. They both share the same set of peripherals that are connected to the monitor - Logitech USB receiver for keyboard/mouse combo, webcam and speakers.

The built-in KVM switch works great and as a bonus it provides power to my MacBook.

Thanks for feedback, how to you phisically switch the devices? Using some keyboard combination with "Dell Display Manager" or pushing some button on monitor?

Just pushing buttons on the monitor. It doesn’t require you to go through menu - you can assign inputs to the he left two buttons.
