I use the text cursor movement thing on my iphone all the time. Though the same functionality exists if you long-press the spacebar. I guess it won’t be the end of the world since I have to do that on my ipad and it feels just fine.

Right.

I’ll miss it, but if Haptic Touch can do everything 3D Touch does, I’ll be ok. I won’t upgrade until it does do everything 3D Touch does though.

It doesn’t currently on the Xr so I hope they improve it by the time the next iPhones come out.

‘I’ll believe it when I see it if Apple removes 3D Touch’. Last year, these _same_ rumors were surfacing and it never happened. Is it possible? Yes. Does it seem like something Apple would do? Yes. But way too much speculation, and let’s just wait until fall to see what they actually do.

I think it’s more likely apple will introduce 3D Touch on the xr vs haptic feed back on the flagship.

Apple usually moves flagship features down, not budget features up. The 11r should get a second lens this fall and an oled display next year. I don’t think that apple will eliminate the second lens on the flagship iPhones this year and reintroduce lcd display on the flagship next year, just to bring the flagship in line with the xr. The logic just isn’t there.

Bolded: That won’t happen. There’s zero reason Apple would introduce 3D Touch on the XR, not when it would cost more to do that, and it’s expected it will receive the dual camera. Keep in mind, Apples whole goal for the XR is the $250 cheaper price point under the XS, and only adding 3D Touch, which is an expensive component, it would increase the cost, which would be counterproductive.

The omission of 3D Touch on the xr has to do with the liquid Retina display, they couldn’t fit it in due to the edge to edge lcd, maybe they figured out a way to add it, or maybe they will add it next year if the xr will indeed include an oled display, according to the rumors.

It just wouldn’t make an sense for apple to remove 3D Touch from the flagship.

I use it everyday for battery, WiFi, and Spotify search. It makes me upset that they’re rumored to take it away. Not upgrading this year.

Good news however, 3D Touch is still supported for iOS 13 in all likeliness. But we Will know more starting on Monday for WWDC.

So in ios 14 they will kill it's functionality?
Most of it has been removed in iOS 13, with much of the functionality retained by way of haptic touch (basically a long press) - one area where pressure sensitivity currently remains is pressing on the keyboard to move the cursor/ select text, other than that it's pretty much been ripped out of the OS. I was under the impression the feature would be sunset on phones that supported it (6s-Xs) but nope, it's actually being removed. Third party apps currently still support it for now, but I am guessing they will slowly be updated to use haptic touch instead.

A shame. I use peek and pop all the time and the keyboard cursor. I hope for a class action if this is really removed on all devices in iOS 13. You can’t sell a product with a feature and remove it afterward. All this because of the next lineup won’t have it! I hope they put it back in the next beta.

I like 3D Touch. I just used it on this thread link to read the initial post. It’s not a game changer but I find it super convenient.

So, you think a class action lawsuit is going to follow because Apple removed a feature? Can you tell me anywhere where it says in there guideline policies/procedures that they can’t remove a feature or a partial functionality without user consent? There’s no logical explanation for anyone to file a class-action against Apple over 3D Touch, unless you have grounds to prove ill-intent.

If they do probably. This is the first iOS13 beta. So there is plenty of time to put the feature back plus they probably test it on new devices which won’t have it. But they have a lawsuit following slowdown. This is the same you cannot do anything with updates. They have to inform everyone impacted. But to me this is lead to misleading publicity even with the information. You buy a product with 3D Touch say the XS instead of the XR specifically for this. Then Apple remove the feature you have been mislead. This is obvious to me you can’t remove feature clients have paid for. There is no guideline for this except trade rules.
Anyway I hope 3D Touch stays on current devices. It is a real time saver long press is slow. And frustrating once you’re used to 3D Touch.
I’m typing this on a XR and this is really painful.

The fact that Apple still lists 3D touch as a feature on the XS website leads me to believe they will not just eliminate this functionality outright in iOS13 on older devices. Also, I don't think they can get away with removing it in 100s of millions of active iPhones that currently support the feature. Seems pretty stupid but we live in stupid times.

Peek but not pop and the keyboard cursor still works with 3D Touch on iOS13 beta. Close all tab is not working it requires a long press. Apple has not removed the most useful features. So wait and see.

I love 3D Touch and use it for a lot of apps etc.

One of the main reasons I went from an X to and XS Max instead of holding out till the XI.

I’ll be gutted if they turn it into Haptic touch in iOS13

3dt will not go away for phones that have the hardware. The question is for 2019 phones and later will Apple include 3dt. If Apple can make haptic Touch the 3dt equivalent more power to them.

I use it all the time. To search on spotify, battery wifi and bluetooth toggles, send text messages, take selfies, etc. I won't upgrade my iPhone for the first time this year.

Oddly, I’m noticing some of my more ‘popular’ third-party applications are no longer supporting 3D Touch, which I find peculiar since the latest rumors have indicated it will be dropped. For some developers, not having to create a shortcut for 3D Touch likely makes it easier for them to continue without having to implement 3D Touch for future updates, which is likely why they are no longer supporting it.
