What do you think about 3D Touch? Will you miss it? Is it just another tech that didn't quite live up to what it was supposed to be?

I don't miss it at all. In fact, it used to be irritating sometimes as it would get triggered accidentally when tapping in some apps. Now I have to deliberately long-press.

Initially, not having 3D Touch was a deterrent to upgrading, but Haptic Touch seems to have replaced enough of it in iOS 13 imo, so I’m ok with it.

My main concern now is a (rumoured) reduction in screen size from my preferred 5.8” down to 5.4” in 2020.

Seriously? This again? People make it out like losing 3D Touch is like as if Apple binned Portrait Mode. Haptic Touch is close enough and the trade off for this all-day battery life was more than worth it.

It’s not coming back. Just move on or keep your 3D Touch phone if it seriously matters that much

This, I couldn't stand it! It was more than a nuisance for me than a feature. So glad they got rid of it.

And here I am, trying to just tap a link or whatever and I hold it for a millisecond too long and it starts acting like I want to long-press it.

Funnily enough, I never ever had a problem with accidentally activating 3D Touch. And now it feels like browsing safari is super slow because every link I click is interpreted as a long press for about a half a second before it actually does anything.

Never ever used 3D Touch, so I don’t miss it on my 11 Pro. I‘d much rather have better battery life.

Use it every day but I am happy with long press, my Android devices have had this for a while. iPhone 7+

I didn't think I used it much but now I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max I do notice the lack of 3D Touch. Only in a few places: the lock screen and typing mostly.

Much prefer the current haptic touch in iOS 13. It’s simple and straightforward. Not that 3D Touch was complicated, but I often forgot it was even there, and a memory learning curve to recall what 3D did in each app.

For the first time ever, I felt upgrading to the latest iPhone was actually a downgrade - because of losing 3D Touch (and the home button, and TouchID, but that's another thread).

I'm quickly getting over them, but 3D Touch was a fantastic technology that was completely underutilized in many various ways. It's a shame it hadn't become standard use for everyone.

For me, I honestly don't care about 3D Touch as I barely even used it on my phone when 3D Touch was a thing.

I am part of the wagon that will forever love 3D Touch instead of Haptic Touch. I know and have a feeling Haptic Touch is still evolving and maybe someday it will have that “pop” feature I loved about 3D Touch but who knows. But I do know that I find it funny and darn right awesome that apps like my Facebook and Flickr right now still supports the full 3D Touch “push” and “pop” so thumbs up for that for the time being until they take that away like Twitter did, at least it’s not working anymore on my Twitter.

I loved 3D Touch on my 6S, 7+ and X. I still love it on my Watch. To be fair, in iOS 13, they practically killed 3D Touch as before upgrading to 11PM, I realized on my X that it was working more like long press.
I have no problem turning on the flashlight and the camera with a long press on the lock screen, but I don't like the home screen implementation. It was very easy to hard press to get the 3D Touch menu and if I long pressed, I would just get the app rearrange.
Now it's hard to get to app rearrange, to the point where Apple added a "Rearrange Apps" option under the "3D Touch" Menu.

I actually loved the "pop" effect with 3D touch. The problem is it was inconsistent. Usually it would work perfectly. But occasionally it would ignore my harder press completely. Other times it would ignore the harder press at first, then suddenly peek and pop all at once.

The very few times it failed to work correctly were annoying enough to sort of ruin it for me. It was really jarring and unpleasant when it would fail to work.

I’ll miss it for typing and moving the cursor around. Haptic touch is a decent enough replacement, but it doesn’t work as fast as 3D Touch and it’s annoying to wait longer for certain functions, like moving apps around since it has to differentiate between whether you’re trying to get haptic or do a long press.

I’ve not updated my X to iOS13 because I refuse to lose the full functionality of 3D Touch but, it won’t stop me from purchasing a new iPhone in the future when I do decide to upgrade..
