The omission of 3D Touch is an unnprecedented backwards step for Apple. I’m using a 6s on iOS 13.

1. Delays. I can initiate actions faster by force pressing rather than waiting for ‘press and hold’.

2. False actions. By hovering my fingers over such things as hyperlinks I’m getting unwanted actions. It’s assuming I wanted a press and hold action and it’s giving me further options where that wasn’t my intention. These were avoided with 3D Touch.

The extra battery life is nice but the old UI is better still.

I feel like you could have lamented 3D Touch in one of the 45 other threads about this.

I'm already over it, honestly. And if you have a 6s, you're going to be stunned by the battery difference on the 11 models.

I remember when it was rumored 3D Touch was going away everyone was saying they didn’t care cause they never used it.

Now it’s the opposite. Now it’s “Apple is going backwards.”

I used 3D Touch all the time on my iPhone 7 but never exactly liked the experience. I found it incredibly inconstant and irritating when highlighting text for example, would often take several attempts to highlight or scroll to where I wanted because it’d just cut out for no reason whatsoever. It was awkward.

I now have my 11 pro max and all I can say to 3D Touch is good riddance.

I guess I am not sure what 3D touch is. I was thinking this was fingerprint ID.
3D Touch is a pressure sensitive layer built into the screen that senses how hard you press. A slight press activates the menu you see when you long press in iOS 12-13 on your SE. If you press harder on your X it will give you a "peek" at content in emails, safari links, etc.. If you press even harder you "pop" into the email or link completely. Each level has haptic feedback as it happens. At least that's how it used to work until iOS13. Now 3D Touch has been replaced by haptic touch and in my opinion not the same.

Even tough I understand the reasons for removing it, I miss 3D Touch far more than I thought I would.

Dropping 3D Touch was a big mistake. Haptic touch is a joke in comparison.
I can see how the few that used 3D Touch might have this opinion, it appears Apple went with the large percentage of users that used it infrequently.

Not including 3D Touch this go around does not appear to be a show stopper regarding sales. Better battery life and a more vibrant screen have been, for me, most significant. I did’t mention camera/photo processing upgrades because again for me this feature is not as often used.

I doubt dropping 3D Touch is a big mistake.

It’s more likely that Apple mostly simply went with the easier and cheaper option without there being that much more to it.

That’s slightly incorrect , unfortunately Apple invested a lot of money into 3D Touch (R&D) when it 1st came out for them to just give up, so that’s not entirely true they did it to just save money.

We can subjectively argue if they did it to either save space for bigger battery or extra camera, or it was a little known feature that went mostly unused providing less benefits versus its cost to manufacture it.

I believe it was a combination of them all that outweighed the benefit.

I use it occasionally on my XS Max but I plan to move on with upgrading to an 11 Pro Max whenever I get time to visit my carrier. I think 3D touch could have been a big thing if it was implemented in a better way but it didn't seem to get much love from app devs or users. Of course when something goes away all the sudden people come out of the woodwork saying they want it. It's like that with everything.

When I first voted, I chose first option. Now changed to second. 3D touch was never fully implemented but even the most basic features were time saving. You could just press harder than just pressing and holding. It really became a bit annoying for me after some time to lose time waiting for something to happen on screen. With 3D touch, it was instantly.

Only thing I cared about with 3D touch was the ability to move the cursor and given that can still be done via haptic touch, albeit using the spacebar only, I don't miss 3D Touch at all. It really is not difficult to understand and master a long touch vs the pressure of the touch.

This. I could never get consistent email previews to work. When someone from the office would send an email, and maybe I am out at lunch or in a meeting and I just want a small preview, it would sometimes work and if it didn't work, then the person on the other end got a read receipt and wanted to know why I never responded as they would say "I know you got that email, I have a receipt" lol. I do not miss it because now I can do a preview without it and it actually works now all the time. The hard press on the screen was never consistent enough for me. So I am totally fine without it.
