What do you think?
Personally after upgrading to 3rd gen iPad Pro from 1st gen, I feel that it’s smallish...
In current bezel free form design, 15” would be fantastic.
What do you think..?
If apple supports mouse with ios, why not super productivity ipads in sizes 15-17". Instantly
the greatest art tablet ever.

The new 12.9” iPad Pro I think is the perfect size. Decent size display equal to letter paper size and not too bulky to carry round.

Not to say I would not buy a bigger iPad, but it would then mainly be for desk use, rather than as portable device. For that to be beneficial, then the multi-tasking capability would need also beefing up.
Yes I agree. I was blown away when I realized the screen is the nearly the same size as a regular piece of paper.

Never in my 30-50 years of existence has a headphone jack been a weak point or source of a problem, and never have I heard anyone else complain about a headphone jack. I even spent 5 years being an audio engineer of sorts, and musician, and have never heard a complaint from anyone in that field or profession.

You're the first. So forgive me if I don't take your experience as meaningful in any way, shape, or form. I'm not saying your experience or preference is invalid for you, respectfully, but to me this is just noise.
So... you've never heard of this. What — You didn't get the memo? Did you really miss Apple's massive advertising campaign on this issue? Apparently so.

Apple did away with the headphone jack to reduce warranty costs and improve reliability. By their own estimate, eliminating it save them over $100 million in 2017. Bump it, there goes logic board as happened to me. Eliminating it makes iPhones and iPads water resistant—a big focus of Apple's press releases.

I'm puzzled— Do you not know if you are 30-50 years old? I'm having a hard time with that. But, as long as you want to piss on this with your resume, I was turning knobs behind a recording desk in 1969 and I wasn't a baby when I did so.

Are you really comparing a 1/4" phone jack on a piece of stationary gear to the 1/8" TRRS jack soldered to a fragile board? False equivalency never wins arguments.

It was Apple who killed the jack for exactly the reasons I stated. Look it up. I didn't do it (kill the headphone jack) but I absolutely agree with them for doing so.

On the consumer end, nobody ever complained about the headphone jack prior to Apple’s removal, and nobody complains about it now. It wasn’t a weak point and source of dissatisfaction, as you claim. I’m talking consumer experience.

Everything else you said was cute.

Unless you're in a pro setting (for audio recording ect...), danging wires suck. I love my AirPods and Bose quiet master 35's. I think that's what they are called. I know wired is the best for quality, but for average people, it's just easier to get wireless.

I suppose Apple could take the size of the original iPad 12.9 and make a larger screen by getting rid of more bezel. The fact is I used to carry the old 12.9 around with me every day.

Heck I even carried a 17" Macbook Pro as my daily carry to and from work. Loved all those ports! image.png

The chase for thinness and all screen design.

That would have to be a hell of a “bump” Apple claimed it was the earphone cables getting caught on things and pulling the EarPods out of people’s ears. Very few complaints around wiping out logic boards because of the headphone jack.
Aside from that most professional equipment for recording is compatible with the headphone jack vs lightening/USB-C cables and no professional musician will use Bluetooth for recording/mastering tracks. There is still to much delay with Bluetooth for that. Also it’s not like the USB-C port with a dongle hanging out of it is any different than a cable hanging out from the headphone jack. Especially when you consider many were swiping credit cards with the square dongle.
I’m fine with technology moving forward, but don’t make crap up to justify it.

It was Apple who identified the jack as the weak point in the design, not I. They spent million$ telling you about it. You can make up whatever you want about it, I suppose—and apparently you have. Nothing I can do about that.
Also it’s not like the USB-C port with a dongle hanging out of it is any different than a cable hanging out from the headphone jack.
On that point, you couldn't be more wrong. Unlike bumping the jack, bumping the USB-C or Lightening plug takes out the plug. Apple's justifications also include water resistance, again exclusive to the headphone jack.

The most likely scenario for those of use who play live with these is using a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter which puts a bit of mass in exactly the wrong place.

Except for my own experience, I reported nothing that hasn't been released by Apple.

I did show this thread to some iOS engineers and support people. Their jobs forbid them logging in and commenting and I'll leave it at that.

Yeah it’s called salesmanship. They just bought Beats Headphones for $3 Billion a year before, and they want their ROI. Gotta increase demand for wireless Bluetooth headphones and speakers for future sales.

Apple sells 300 million iPhones per year. They want to cross-sell services and peripherals. They have a huge push into audio with Beats, AirPods, and Homepods, and you’re right, the headphone jack would be getting in the way of that—but not because consumers where having technical difficulties with their headphone jacks, as you stated.

At that time, Tim Cook knew iPhone sales-saturation was coming, which is why they switched from market-growth to revenue-growth strategies. Removing the headphone jack was part of that transition because they needed to lay the foundation in which to build a wireless future (aka accessory sales). And it worked! You’ll hear about it next stock holders meeting.

15 inch is not too big. It fits in every brief case and bags that I have.

I had hoped for Apple to increase the screen size and keep the outer dimension of the 12,9" iPad Pro. The smaller size is nice when lying in bed, but for drawing a bigger screen is preferred. Around 16" would be a very good size.
