Some people said the same thing about 4.3 inch screens just four years ago. Some people said the same thing about 4.7 inch screens just two years ago.

People adjust.

Which is just ignoring the fact that people have no choice so they have to make a compromise, not adjust. I still cannot adjust to a 5 inch screen despite using it for a full year now and crave for a 4.5-4.7 inch screen as that is the max comfortable size for me.

----------

4.7 at the max.

There are so many 5 inch and bigger choices now, while the only respectable small choice is the Z1C which is not widely available. Where is our choice?

Well, I'm in the far minority in that I prefer a smaller phone. I'm not a small guy and have pretty big hands for my size (can palm a basketball) but like to have my phone with me when active so larger phones are a no-go. I won't specify a specific size display that I prefer though because for me personally it's less about the display size and all about the overall device size. I really like the size of the iPhone--get rid of as much bezel as possible and it could easily fit a 4.3-4.4" display. The recent 'alleged iPhone 6 (and likely fake)' prototype would be spectacular--same width and only about 5 mm longer with basically no side bezels. Something the size of the Moto X is a big as I'd want to go and Moto did a terrific job of maximizing display in a device that size.

So I guess my answer is as much display as you can fit in a 129 mm long device. :D

The size of the G2 with it's 5.2" screen is pretty much perfect.

Agreed! I was of the mindframe that 4.7 is enough and anything bigger would be too big.... however this weekend I saw a G2 in person in a T-mobile store and was absolutely shocked when I looked at the specs and saw that the screen is 5.2"

I have still got my iPhone 4, Nexus 4 and i now have a Nexus 5. The iPhone 4's screen is way to small and the size of the phone is to small for my big hands. When it comes to comfort in my hand and pockets the Nexus 4 is PERFECT. However when it comes to overall usage the Nexus 5's bigger screen wins hands down, it is slightly less comfortable to handle but thats a minor downside. I can honestly say the Nexus 5 is as large as i would want a phone.

Screen and body size of the Nexus 5 is perfect. 5 inch screen with on screen buttons and little bezel. Perfect size altogether.

The comment every time someone sees my Note 3 at work is "How do you fit it into your pocket? Every time I hand it to them to try, they always let out a gasp of surprise or "Wow" when it goes into their pocket easily with plenty of room to spare.

The reality is unless you wear painfully tight skinny jeans, it will fit into your pocket with ease. Unless your pocket is pretty much the exact size and dimensions of an iPhone.

My jeans/pants are all fitted, but not skinny jeans. The Note 3 definitely does not fit in, not without being forced in there. For a different perspective, a GS4 sticks out of the pocket, and it isn't always comfortable to sit with.

All that aside, I carry my Note 3 in my coat pocket most of the time. It's beautiful. While I use the Note for all business uses and video, I always pull out my iPhone for most other things, music, web, books, productivity. I don't mind the smaller screen, I prefer the display and function on iPhone.

I upgraded from a Nexus 4 to a Nexus 5 and now, when I use my wife's Nexus 4 I find it smallish

I agree, after owning every size of display from the original cramped 3.5" iPhone, to all the various sized Androids from 4.3, 4.5, 4.7, 4.8 & 5.0"

I like the 5.0" display size the best.

If we're talking Phablet, I like the 5.7" on my Note 3.

4.7 inch screens are my sweet spot. I could deal with a 5 inch phone as I have very large gorilla hands but for an every day daily driver I prefer a 4.7 inch screen. It is what my Nexus 4 and now Moto X have. Although screens are only a part of the equation. The dimensions of the device also play a role. My Moto X is hardly bigger than my iPhone 5 despite the much larger screen.

I'm not saying my experience will be the same for everybody, just everyone I've met in person who made the tablet jive about my phone had never tried to put it in their own pocket. And most people I encounter online making it havent tried it themselves.
I'm 5' 7" with a fairly small frame so a Note looks really stupid in my hands hence my opinion. I think they suit techy types rather well and people like yourself who don't notice the size difference in their pockets, so am not saying you are wrong for owning one either. Its just not my cup of tea at all and wouldn't be suitable for me to carry about daily. You don't see that many of them about here.

Smartphones are very much a tool of choice for work these days and although S3's and S4's pop up amongst the masses of iPhones I see, its rare to see a Note in my own experience. Whenever I am on the London underground I always glance about as nearly everybody buries themselves in their phones to make the journey more bearable. The iPhone is still the most popular phone I see so if the screen size is wrong, it must make up for it somewhere lol. I couldn't comment on what that is other than from my own usage. :)

If the iPhone could increase the screen size and keep the outer phone dimensions the same as they are, we'd have a winner I think. Scrap the bezel and keep the form. ;)

Hmmm, not sure. Since I'm pretty much Apple all the way, I don't know what a 4.7 is like to use. But, I really want to find out. My eyes are getting a bit older. I want a larger text to read without pinching and zooming. I want an APPLE 4.7 phone. My rMini goes with me everywhere, just for that reason.
Wait a minute, maybe that's why Apple won't make a bigger phone---they want me to carry 2 devices.
I do think 5.0 would be too big though.

Having upgraded 7-8 last year, I found that LG's G2 at 5"-5.2" is the perfect size.

Size was one of the reasons why I upgraded, iPhone 5S & hTc One was too small and Samsung Galaxy Note 3/Sony XPERIA Z Ultra was too big.

I love my nexus 5, it's perfect.

The Note 3 pretty much hits the sweet spot for me. Could go a tad larger if they keep the bezels to a minimum.

The only time I find my Note 2 to be annoyingly large is when I'm at a business function or similar and wearing a suit. It doesn't quite disappear into the inner pocket of that suit jacket....hehe. But I keep my old iP4S around for times like that.

Aside from those particular situations, I'll take the functionality over comfort every time.

My problem with the Nexus 5 is its shape. It is uncomfortable in both the hand and pocket. I wear slim straight jeans, which aren't skinny, but they aren't baggy either. When the Nexus 5 is in my pocket, I can always feel it and it bothers me. I don't notice the Galaxy S4 or Moto X in my pocket, though.

The moto X felt like a toy in my hand, didn't like the feeling at all. At least with the iPhone there's some heft to it. A 6 inch device is probably the sweet spot for me but I can live with a mid 5. I rarely use my phone in the conventional sense and finding out that the Note 3 is very much pocketable and not at all cumbersome, makes me only want to go bigger.

I embrace the big smartphone boom.

4.7" is the sweet spot for me. I have tried the Galaxy S4 with its 5" screen but I couldn't touch the top left corner with one hand like I can do with my HTC One.

I liked my experience yesterday at Verizon with the Nokia Icon. One of the smallest bezels out there btw on large smartphones.

No problem operating one handed to tell the truth. Hmmm! :)

Well, when I was using a 4.3", 4.5", and 4.65" screen phone, I missed the 4" screen of my first smartphone, the Galaxy S.

The trend of big screens has kept me away from Android, primarily, for the past year or two.
