I am sure your mac will be ok, apart from the little bit of paint that has come off mine, all the hardware side seems to be ok. Anyway this paint probably came off when they opened it up to upgrade the hard drive. I do hope they redesign the inside so it eventually looks as good and easy to access as the G5. And as for noise it is silent, i hope all goes well for you and you get a top mac.

Here are some pics of my 4th faulty imac core duo, which arrived this afternoon. If you can't see the pic properly i will tell you that the plastic front is not even glued or fixed to the tft screen properly. This is a joke 4 imacs and all of them are totaly unacceptable. If it the front wasn't scratched it was the screen that was scratched if it wasn't any of them it would have a chip out of the plastic and even if that wasn't enough the tft screen would be faulty. I am pissed.
That's exactly what my iMac is like - I think it's normal. I might go to the Apple store tomorrow and take a look, but I think you're just looking for defects and finding some where there's really none. I'm not criticising you ... after three earlier defective machines, I'm not surprised.

Just noticed some of the white paint has come off the case, i did think about keeping it until i saw this.
As for paint peeling off ... I don't understand what you mean by this. I'm not sure what the material is, but there is no paint as far as I can tell anywhere on my iMac. Where is it peeling off?

My iMac does that too, and I'm perfectly happy using it. Maybe if everyone actually used their computers instead of spending time trying to discover any possible flaw with it, they'd get a lot more done and be happier overall. I dunno, just a thought.

Under the plastic it is white, that is why your imac looks white. If it had not been painted on the back of the plastic it would be clear. I read a post a few days ago about one of the ibooks being painted behind the plastic to give it its colour, i think it was the G3. Anyway i sending it back for a refund, they said they couldn't give me the £70 goodwill gesture and i would have to pay the full amount. And i can't justify paying another £200 for a a machicne which has paint missing when i can buy a refurbished machine for £780. Even though the refubr machine only has 512mb of ram and a 160gb hard drive. I do not really need a 250gb hard drive so i could live with that and apple over charge for the ram aswell so i can live with buying the ram some place else and sticking it in myself.
