I'm downloading ios5 and it is sssllllooowwww! Tells me 4hrs! I don't know why I'm bothering to do so since I'm getting a new phone Friday. I guess I want to see it in action and get used to it over one day. Evidently all iPhone users have been downloading it all day....Yikes!

Don't feel bad, mine is showing 8 hours now. It was 9 hours. Oops. It just timed out.

Dang! I have road runner turbo and it's still slow. Mine just dropped to 3 hours. I'm sorry you are having a rough time with the download. At least the 4s already has it loaded! Happy about that.

Yuuuup. It has caused me to give up updating anything tonight. The worst part is I think it is a separate download for iPads and iPhones. That is an entire overnight of just downloading.

I have a 155 megabit connection and it is telling me 11 hours. Apple seems unprepared.

Strange when I updated my iPhone my iMac d/led the 770 meg file in 5 mins or so.

Now when I try and update my update it's telling me 4-5 hours. I know it's not my connection, since speedtest has me at 30 mbps.

Zzzzz

Zzzzzzzz

Iv'e been waiting for hours and not finished downloading..

You know what it is................

STOP CRYING! IT'S A LARGE DOWNLOAD AND EVERYONE IS DOING IT AT THE SAME TIME.

I have patience though. A beer can pass the time away.

Mine is super slow too. It said 6 hours when I started (4 hours ago) and now it says 3. It is slowly getting closer and I figure it will finish over night. This reminds me of downloading World of Warcraft! haha

I went on the blog mentioned above and tried to do ipad 2 wifi and it said 11 hours! eek

How can you have 155mbps? Makes no sense. It took me less than 5 minutes to download but I have a t3 connection running here.

I didn't have to update today; apparently the official build is the same as the GM build for this one.
That being said, if you're not afraid of torrent sites, you could download the GM release through torrents. Update should take less than 1 hour.

i read this around 8:30 and blew it off, someone mentioned resetting their modem...

i sat from 9-11:30PM with the download at 8-16 hours then it would time out... i tried repeatedly...

for the heck of it, i reset the cable modem and router, i got the iOS5 download to compete in around 10 minutes... YMMV but its worth a shot....

It was telling me 4 hours, but I had to go to a meeting, so I restarted it once I got there and it only took 15 minutes.

I was among the first who started downloading iOS5, 12 hours ago, and I still have 3 hours to go! 15 hours in total, what you're all going through is a blessing! Plus, with this update and Lion 10.7.2, iPhoto 9.2, Find My Friends, Cards, iTunes Movie Trailers, and all those updated apps, my monthly data limit is about to reach its end when I still haven't even used it for a week :(

that's the price of trying to keep up with Apple in a 3rd world country

In Itunes: 12hrs
Kept it as Direct download: 4Hrs done.. 5hrs more..
You are lucky its 4hrs in all.. :)

It came out at 1:05pm eastern time, I clicked download at 1:05.30pm and it was done downloading at 1:17pm, that's with a 25Mbps connection. Got lucky, I guess.
