Blown away by the HPC Mac Pro, wow! N3 really ramped up and shocked us all, haha.

I imagine the M2 Ultra Studio is getting a price increase or else this Mac Pro makes even less sense than it already does. Hope they fixed the coil whine in the Studio because it'll probably be my next Mac given how lackluster this Pro is.

That is exactly same machine my pal have been test since last year, noting has been change.
Oh. But didn't you mention only 1 PCI-E slot? The announced one has 6.

...And a different core count.

Though, don't sweat it, you may have gotten a "dummy unit", as in sometimes Apple gives out units that are different from the final one to dissuade leaks from family members and snatch people that are found to spy into the Apple development. It happens, we won't treat your future rumors with any more doubt than currently.

They didn't mention the Mac Studio Ultra price, is it gonna stay at $3999? .. The Asi Mac Pro is just a big empty case and $3000 premium for 6x gen 4 PCI slots you can't stick a gpu into ( cuz the bandwidth is terrible).. i guess 8 TB ports vs.. 4.. damn.

I was about to say it but you did it yourself. I think both machines are v v similar albeit the one your friend had access to perhaps only M1 Ultra.

The one PCIe slot was obviously a trick of your friend or both of you to keep Apple guessing. lol

So I believe Apple's decision to delay for a year turned out to be a failure. In the middle of 2023, they launch a machine which is very similar to what they already had a year ago. Apparently that's due to TSMC's hiccup on 3nm. But even Apple had 3nm it's only faster in both CPU & GPU cores (perhaps with more RAM..). The grand scheme of the thing is very likely the same: no DIMM slots and no 3rd party GPUs

Too bad non-Apple GPUs aren't supported..

You obviously have not read thru the entire thread...

I'm clearly an optimist thinking Apple might lets us finally use a real GPU with any ASi product in some form.
